Victor Willis Calls Kanye West Grammys Ban 'Disturbing,' Blames Trevor Noah

Yesterday, The Blast broke the story that Kanye West had been banned from the Grammys due to his online social media threats.

Last Sunday, he wrote “I can afford to hurt u” to D.L. Hughley on Instagram. On Wednesday, Meta, Instagram’s parent company, slapped the “Donda” rapper with a 24-hour suspension after he posted a series of racial slurs direct to “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah.

As a result, the Grammys chose not to give Ye a platform and let him perform at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards, which will be hosted by the South African comedian on Sunday, April 3. Considering thousands have signed a petition asking Coachella to remove him from their line-up, many applauded the decision to ban Ye from the Grammys.

However, not everyone agreed with their decision. Victor Willis of the Village People was particularly vocal on social media the day after the announcement, claiming that it was Trevor Noah's fault that Ye got banned and that the Grammys should have removed Noah as host instead!

On Saturday afternoon, Victor Willis, lead singer of the Village People, gave a bizarre take on the events and said that the Grammys should have considered pulling Trevor Noah instead “for inserting himself in the mess in the first place.”

On Tuesday night – the night before Ye’s racial tirade against him – Noah had expressed concern for Ye’s ex, Kim Kardashian, criticizing Kanye’s “harassing” behavior.

“What we’re seeing here is one of the most powerful, one of the richest women in the world unable to get her ex to stop texting her, to stop chasing after her, to stop harassing her,” Noah said Tuesday night on “The Daily Show.”

Willis began his statement by saying, “Though Kanye West's behavior of late is disturbing and despicable even, the Grammys ban is equally disturbing.”

“Trever [sic] Noah knew he was hosting the Grammys (where Kanye West was up for numerous nominations) before he inserted himself into Kanye's business, baiting a response,” he continued. Ye has been nominated for five Grammy Awards.

“Trevor knows how Kanye is,” he continued. “Now Kanye's out of the Grammys because Trevor Noah as host, couldn't keep his mouth shut (at least until after the Grammys was over) therein putting the Academy in an awkward position with Kanye.”

“I like Trevor, but maybe the Grammys should have considered pulling him as host for inserting himself in this mess in the first place,” he added. “Harvey Mason ought to fix this mess and quick. Let Kanye West perform. What say you?”

An hour after he posted his thoughts, his post only got seven reactions and seven comments.

“Liberal Lunatics cancelled him because he doesn’t let them pull his puppet strings,” one user commented.

“I have to agree with you,” said another. “They are pulling the wrong person out.”

“They are trying to isolate him. Hey geniuses; do you think this helps a person with mental illness challenges or make it worse#HollyWood is #ColdHearted,” another commented.

However, not everyone agreed with Willis.

“No he is not well right now,” another argued. “It might cause him to go over the edge and be a situation that can't be fixed. He just would not be able to help himself. Know a couple of people that have behaved like him. And had the same problem. And Travor was just being a opionater has does with ever situation of today. And it's just option nothing more.”

“Kanye is best just to chill… I know it’s not his nature but he has all eyes right now…. Kim is baiting him with this clown stuff…. Nothing worse than a woman scorned ….” Another commented. “He best turn the heat down on this … the vultures are trying to circle. It is sad… the Grammys I agree with you …. Trevor is cape riding trying to build his name as far as I am concerned…. He is a total loser to me.”
