Blue Origin is one member down as it broke the unexpected news that Pete Davidson will no longer be on their upcoming space mission program.
The sub-orbital spaceflight services and aerospace manufacturer company previously confirmed Davidson as one of the exclusive teammates for its fourth human flight mission.
The company took to social media to hint that the “Saturday Night Live” comedian was not booted off but will not be joining for other reasons.
Blue Origin Announces Pete Davidson’s Absence From Upcoming Space Mission
Davidson will not be on the fourth human flight to outer space conducted by Blue Origin, as seen in their latest social media update.
The company has brought along many reputable personalities on their space mission since the success of their first human flight in July 2021.
Celebrities such as “Good Morning America” host Michael Strahan and “Star Trek” actor William Shatner have also come aboard on the space excursion.
On Thursday, March 17, Blue Origin took to their official Twitter account to break the news of the “What Men Want” actor’s absence from the upcoming program.
Perhaps, owing to the search for a replacement, the company also postponed the excursion, which was meant to be held on March 23. The tweet read:
“Blue Origin’s 20th flight of New Shepard has shifted to Tuesday, March 29. Pete Davidson is no longer able to join the NS-20 crew on this mission.” the company shared. “We will announce the sixth crew member in the coming days.”
Upon receiving the news, internet users took to the comments section with their reactions. Many responses revolved around Davidson’s relationship with Kim Kardashian and his beef with Kanye “Ye” West.

Earlier this month, The Blast disclosed that speculations began rising that Davidson would be heading into space with Jeff Bezos and some of the Blue Origin space crew.
An insider told Page Six that “The King of Staten Island” star was about to sign on the dotted line when paparazzi spotted him and Kardashian having a private dinner with Bezos.
The couple had the meal at the billionaire’s Los Angeles estate, where his partner Lauren Sanchez was also present.
At the time, the source said.“Pete is excited,” and they were yet to sign a contract, but it was likely to happen as the details were being finalized.
The insider added that Davidson and Bezos got along well. On Monday, March 14, Blue Origin confirmed the speculations on Twitter. The post read:
“#NewShepard mission #NS20 will include Marty Allen, @NBCSNL’s Pete Davidson, @SharonHagle, Marc Hagle, @JimKitchen, and @DrGeorgeNield. Liftoff on March 23 is targeted for 8:30 am CDT / 13:30 UTC from Launch Site One.”
The upcoming NS-20 flight set for March 29, will have Marty Allen, husband, and wife Sharon and Marc Hagle, Jim Kitchen, and Dr. George Nield on board.
A statement on the company’s website confirmed that this is the fourth human space flight for its New Shepard program and its 20th overall.
Every member aboard for the excursion also gets a postcard to space on behalf of the Club for the Future foundation.
These postcards offer students exclusive access to space on Blue Origin’s rockets to inspire them to chase a future in the STEM line.
The “Saturday Night Live” Comedian To Play Himself In New Series
Davidson’s absence from Blue Origin’s impending space mission may be due to his hectic schedule, including an upcoming series.
Earlier this month, The Blast disclosed that the comedian’s series, “Bupkis” will be an R-rated retelling of his real-life but with other unusual elements.
“SNL” creator Lorne Micheals will produce the show, while Dave Sirus and Judah Miller will serve as co-creators. The show is in the final stage of dealings with Universal Television and Micheals’ Broadway Video.
The comedy series is a “raw, unflinching, fictionalized version of Pete Davidson’s real life. It will include a mixture of grounded storytelling with absurd elements depicting an unfiltered view through Pete’s eyes.”
