Actor Norman Reedus reportedly suffered a concussion on the set of “The Walking Dead.”
The AMC zombie series is based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman. The show first debuted on October 31, 2010, and has spawned multiple spin-off series. The show, which films in Georgia, is currently wrapping up its eleventh and final season. Reedus has been with the show since its very first season.
Norman Reedus Suffers Head Injury On ‘The Walking Dead’ Set
Deadline reported that the incident happened on Friday, March 11, where the cast and crew are eager to finish wrapping up the show’s final episodes in Georgia.
A spokesperson for the actor, Jeffrey Chassen, explained that “Norman suffered a concussion on set.” However, he added that “He is recovering well and will return to work soon. Thank you to everyone for their concern.”
Although the incident happened on “The Walking Dead” set, Chassen did not answer if Reedus was in the middle of filming a scene when the accident happened. In light of Reedus’ injury, AMC has pushed back the wrap day for the series back a few days to allow Reedus time to recover.
This is not the first time that Reedus has had an accident while filming. In 2015, Reedus cut up his arm while filming a scene in a barn for the fifth season’s episode called “Them.” Although the injury was allegedly captured on camera, it was never shown on screen.

Although the main series may be drawing to a close, fan-favorite characters Daryl Dixon (Reedus) and Carol Peletier, played by Melissa McBride, will return in a spin-off series slated for 2023. The spin-off will be created by “The Walking Dead” showrunner Angela Kang and Scott M. Gimple.
Although there is not much information known about the plot of the show, it is expected to be released sometime in 2023.
This is also not the only spin-off starring two fan-favorite characters. Earlier this month, AMC revealed that Lauren Cohan’s Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan will be getting their very off spin-off show called “Isle of the Dead.” This marks the fifth spin-off show in “The Walking Dead” universe. The show is said to have six episodes in its first season and will be created by former “The Walking Dead” writer Eli Journé. It’s possible that the show could be renewed for a second season.
Although Negan brutally murdered Maggie’s husband Glenn (Steven Yeun) and friend Abraham (Michael Cudilitz), Maddie and Negan have been forced to work together and have developed an unlikely truce.
What Will The New ‘Isles Of The Dead’ Spin-Off Be About?
As The Blast previously reported, the new spin-off series will be taking place in post-Apocalyptic Manhattan. The group of survivors began in Georgia and have slowly made their way north, settling in Alexandria, Virginia.
“The Walking Dead” has attempted to show the in-universe apocalypse through several different regions and time frames. The first “TWD” spin-off, titled “Fear the Walking Dead,” began at the outbreak of the apocalypse in Los Angeles. The time frame eventually caught up to the main series as the group of survivors traveled from Mexico to Texas. Another spin-off, “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” started in Nebraska and then took a road-trip across the United States to upstate New York, where the Civic Republic Military’s research base was located.
Although “The Walking Dead: World Beyond” only lasted two seasons, the end-credits scene teased fans with a shot of a dilapidated research facility in France, where a new strain of fast-moving zombies had been discovered.
“Fear of the Walking Dead” is currently on its seventh season. The long-awaited “Tales of the Walking Dead” anthology series is also set to premiere this summer.
In addition to the many “The Walking Dead” spin-off shows, there is also the Rick Grimes trilogy still in development. The show’s first season began with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) waking up from a coma and attempting to find his family in the middle of the apocalypse. During one of the show’s later seasons, Rick had been carried off by a helicopter for parts unknown.
Not much information is known about the Rick Grimes movies or when they will be released.
