'Vanderpump Rules' Tom Schwartz & Katie Maloney Confirm Split: 'This Sucks'

After 12 years together, "Vanderpump Rules" stars Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney-Schwartz have called it quits on their marriage, each posting a message on their respective Instagram accounts.

Rumors of the breakup surfaced earlier in the week after Maloney posted a picture on Instagram minus her wedding ring, but now the split has been confirmed by both, although they have done so respectfully. The 'bubbas' are over, although earlier this year, signs were present in something that Katie said.

Earlier this year, Katie Maloney spoke with Page Six and admitted that the couple did fight a lot. Said the 35-year-old reality star, "Obviously, we are not perfect. We fight a lot. We don’t try to hide our flaws. When people try to act like they have a perfect relationship, that’s when things can kind of fall apart because it can be exhausting to keep that up. Because we do put it all out there and we’re not ashamed of it … we’re living the truth.”

Later, tongues began to wag when Maloney was spotted sans the wedding ring, the most recent snap being just last week, with Stassi Schroeder.

On the show, Maloney and Shwartz were married in 2016, but they made a legally binding wedding only in 2019. Since then, there have been many ups and downs in their life, with Maloney admitting that she had an abortion when she first began dating Schwartz because she was not ready to be a mother at the time.

She has also been open about her struggles with fertility although the couple had not made up their mind as to when they wanted children. In season 9 of Vanderpump Rules, Schwartz also had to let go of his friendship with Tom Sandoval as Sandoval and Maloney did not get along one bit.

But now, the marriage is finally over.

Katie Maloney posted a carousel of pictures on Instagram with a simple and heartfelt message about the decision to end the marriage.

She wrote, "I never thought I would have to make an announcement like this. But I feel it's important that I'm open about my life with you. After 12 years on an adventure through life together Tom and I are ending our marriage. This ending is not met with resentment or animosity, no sides to choose. We have deep admiration for one another that will always remain and we cherish our friendship."

She continued to say, "Although we may be on different paths we will continue to love and support one another's happiness. Thank you for all the kind words and support."

Earlier in February, Maloney had also shared a quote from Kim Kardashian's Vogue story, which read, "In the last two years, I decided I'm going to make myself happy. And that feels really good. And even if that created changes and caused my divorce, I think it's important, to be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy. I've chosen myself. I think it's okay to choose you."

Thankfully, the couple seems to be handling it with way less mud-slinging than Kanye West and KimK.

Schwartz, 39, also took to his Instagram page to announce the split with a quote and few pictures, although he admitted that he was not quite ready.

He wrote, "Well this sucks. How am I supposed to capture 12 years of love in a f–in canned Instagram caption. I'm not quite ready to use the 'D-word bc it's too painful. Yes my heart aches but I'll be ok."

But he also added, "Fully respect Katie's decision and we've had healthy, productive conversations about it. It would be far sadder if she decided to stay with me whilst not happy."

He also said that "we had some of the most blissful, romantic, fun times humanly possible over the course of our relationship" and that Maloney has "taught me so much about love & being a better partner."

Current and former cast members of the long-running Bravo show took to commenting their love and support for both Schwartz and Maloney, as another one bit the dust.
