It seems that the world may never really know what happened to “Full House” star Bob Saget.
On Monday, March 14, 2022, a Florida judge blocked the release of all photographs, videos, and other records connected to Bob Saget’s death, as reported by the New York Post.
Saget’s widow, Kelly Rizzo, and his three daughters had filed a lawsuit to stop the release of records pertaining to the investigation into his death.
Judge Permanently Blocks The Release Of Bob Saget’s Autopsy Report
The “How I Met Your Mother” narrator died on January 9 after suffering blunt head trauma at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes hotel in Florida. However, it is unclear exactly how he suffered this head trauma.
The stand-up comedian had multiple fractures and abrasions in the back of his skull, including one that extended out to his right temporal bone. He also had fractures around his eye sockets. His cause of death was ruled to be bleeding in the brain as a result of the head trauma, an autopsy report concluded.
The autopsy declared that there were no drugs or alcohol found in his body during his time of death. At the time of his death, authorities had ruled out foul play and drug use.
Doctors Question Bob Saget's Cause Of Death
In the video above, CNN's Chief Medical Correspondent and neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjay Gupta gives his own take on Bob Saget's cause of death. Gupta called the injury “not a simple bump on the head.”
He called it “a very significant blow to the head” while referencing a graphic showing the different bones in Saget’s skull that had been fractured, both in the front and the back of his head. “It takes a lot of force to do that,” he explained.
Although he theorized that he had been struck in the back of the head due to the abrasions, he continued to explain that the fracture extended to the right temporal bone, which would require a great amount of force. The medical examiner’s report also noted that there were fractures in the front of his skull just above Saget's eyes.
“When I first saw this, if I knew nothing else about what happened, you would think that this was someone who had fallen down the stairs and had several impacts to the head or been unrestrained in a car accident,” he said.
“Whatever happened here, we may never know the exact, like, how he fell or what happened, but it was a significant blow,” he continued. “Likely, the bleeding on top of the brain […] is likely causing pressure on the brain and subsequently, sadly, led to him becoming unconscious and then dying.”
Bob Saget Was Captured On Video Footage Hours Before Death
In an exclusive PEOPLE report, an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy admitted that “There are still a lot of unanswered questions” about how Saget passed away.
Bob Saget's final moments outside his hotel room were captured on surveillance video. He was seen exiting the elevator on the ninth floor of the hotel and walking down the long hallway to room 962 where he was staying. Officials report that Saget appeared to show no signs of distress as he was walking.
He entered his room at 2:17 AM and hung a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the doorknob before locking the door from the inside. No one entered or exited the room until hotel security came to check on him the following day at around 4 PM.
Using information from the scene, authorities had immediately ruled out both foul play and drug use to be a factor in his death. Officials had checked the marble end tables and counters in the bathroom but found no traces of blood or hair. The police suspect that Saget might have slipped and struck his head on the marble floor, where he lost consciousness.
They did not indicate whether any blood or hair was found on the bathroom floor. They stated that no blood or hair was found on the tables or counters in the bathroom, but the report made no mention of any blood on the floor.
Authorities theorize that he regained consciousness, stumbled into bed, where he then lost consciousness again and passed away due to a brain bleed. His estimated time of death was around 4 AM – about two hours after he had entered his hotel room and roughly twelve hours before his body was found.
The late actor's family requested that all reports, audio, video recordings, and photographs, about Saget’s death be exempt from public record requests. The suit claimed that “no legitimate public interest would be served by the release or dissemination of the records to the public.” They added that the release of that information “would cause irreparable harm in the form of extreme mental pain, anguish, and emotional distress.”
Now that their request has been granted, it appears that no one will ever really know what exactly happened to the beloved TV dad.
