Jason Ritter Gushes Over Wife Melanie Lynskey: ‘She Will Be Embarrassed’

Supportive husband Jason Ritter didn’t hold back any praise when talking about his wife, “Yellowjackets” star Melanie Lynskey.

The “Don’t Look Up” actress looked stunning at the Critics’ Choice Awards on Sunday night, where she picked up a win for Best Actress in a Drama Series. The Showtime series was up against some serious competition against Uzo Aduba from HBO’s “In Treatment,” Chiara Aurelia from Freeform’s “Cruel Summer,” Christine Baranski from Paramount+’s “The Good Fight,” Katja Herbers from Paramount+’s “Evil,” and MJ Rodriguez from FX’s “Pose.”

On Sunday night, the “Freddy vs. Jason” actor took to Twitter to share a photo of his wife in a navy velour pantsuit on the red carpet.

“I am sorry to do this and she will be embarrassed that I did this but my GOODNESS what an absolyute beaut my wife is!!!” he tweeted. “ok I’m sorry but I mean LOOK at this human being who is also the best person I know Ok sorry again goodnight that’s enough from me but also.”

Many fans applauded the “Gravity Falls” voice actor for his sweet comments.

“I’d move to Utah in a time machine in the 1860’s to marry Melanie,” Paget Brewster joked.

“Ok, I'm gonna admit, I had no clue who you were married to... I hardly ever keep up with that kind of stuff, but the fact that you married that sweet adorable gal from 1 of my fave movies, Sweet Home Alabama, makes me love you both even more! Way to go!” another commented.

“I did NOT know these two were married and they’ve separately been favorites of mine,” another wrote. “Knowing they’re together makes me irrationally happy.”

“She is one of my all time favorite people. Melanie has played some of the best characters, like Jacqueline from Ever After. So charming, soulful, and lovable,” another commented.

“I was today years old when I found out that you're married to Melanie Lynskey,” another said. “I love finding that out!”

Melanie Lynskey has previously been pretty vocal on Twitter about the harsh criticism that she has received about her appearance. As The Blast previously reported, she even once said that someone on the “Yellowjackets” production team criticized her appearance.

“They were asking me, ‘What do you plan to do? I’m sure the producers will get you a trainer. They’d love to help you with this,’” she shared.

Fortunately, the rest of the cast had her back. Lynskey said that several of her costars expressed their support for her after the embarrassing conversation. Juliette Lewis even went as far as to write a letter to the producers to complain about the way Lynskey was treated!

Back in January, Lynskey retweeted a tweet that had since been deleted by the author about body shaming.

“The story of my life since Yellowjackets premiered,” Lynskey tweeted. “Most egregious are the ‘I care about her health!!’ people…b---- you don’t see me on my Peleton! You don’t see me running through the park with my child. Skinny does not always equal healthy.”

Ritter again came to his wife’s defense, tweeting, “If anyone has any further unsolicited comments about *anybody* else’s body, they can feel free to write them in permanent ink onto their own foreheads and swan dive directly into the sun.”

Many fans again applauded the couple’s unwavering support for one another.

“You're such a good dude & your beautiful wife @melanielynskey deserves this kind of support. Seriously, F the trolls,” another commented. “There are better people out there.”

“Melanie is GORGEOUS & smaller than the average size 14 woman. Having a baby also changes the body a bit. I think she looks GREAT!” one commented. “If I was her, I'd laugh at the bodyshaming attempt from an a-- who I doubt is as TALENTED & BRILLIANT as she is. She & Jason are a PERFECT couple!
