Stolen Boat Wreaks Havoc On Marina!

According to CBS News Los Angeles, the Newport Beach Police reported that a powerboat was stolen by an unidentified man who then drove the boat into the packed dock.

Authorities were first called to the 1200 block of W. Pacific Coast Highway around 10:30 a.m for a vandalism call and report of a stolen boat before they went on a chase.

It's unknown if the perpetrator knowingly drove the speedboat to cause damage at the Marina, but videos shared of the incident showed the boat approaching the marina at full speed.

In the first clip, the speedboat veers towards the side rather than going straight on the body of water, before crashing into the dock, hitting two packed boats. Passersby scream as the speedboat dramatically damages the mast of a sailboat and the side of the second boat.

Despite the crash that almost caused the stolen speedboat to capsize, the driver didn't relent and reversed successfully from the crashed dock to continue driving the boat on the natural course as if nothing happened.

Unfortunately, it seems the unqualified captain lost control again and approached the packed dock again, but this time he avoids crashing into more boats as witnesses on the dock scream and run away to safety.

Man Detained For Stealing The Boat

A second clip shows a different angle showed the speedboat approaching the dock for the second time before it veers off to hit the Lido bridge.

It is believed that it was at this point that the authorities apprehended the unidentified man. Per CBSLA, an Orange County Sheriff's boat was seen towing away a large powerboat from the scene.

Luckily, no one was injured during the incident. The videos of the crash have since made rounds on the internet earning more than 83,000 views and several comments.

Many have branded the driver as incompetent for not knowing how to drive a boat he stole. One netizen wrote, "Gonna steal something, at least know how to drive it" while another joked, "Probably his wife’s boyfriends boat he ran into."

Another hilarious comment read, "I feel like this was an angry teenager who’s parents took away his cellphone. Seems about right for Newport."

This fan joked, "This guy was on a mission."

Many others wondered how it was possible that the guy was able to steal the boat in the first place. Details about the case are still developing. See one of the videos below!
