Kelly Ripa, Co-host of "Live With Kelly And Ryan" frequently shares stories about her family to entertain her viewers. Recently, she was joined by husband Mark Consuelos, and they both opened up about how Kelly Ripa's eating habits left her children disgusted.
"They are disgusted by our eating, they make fun of my eating a lot," Ripa said, asking her husband she's noticed it too.
The "Riverdale" actor then told his wife, You have an exciting way of eating food." He then explained how his wife would use her hands to gobble food and put her fingers in her mouth.

"You eat normal food normally, but every now and then, if there's something that can be [eaten] with your fingers, you'll go in—first of all you'll put the plate in front of me, and then you'll go in and grab it and then you stick all three fingers, the tips of all three fingers, into your mouth," her husband explained, using his thumb, index finger, and middle finger to demonstrate.
He shared that Ripa doesn't only do this with finger foods. She had done it with cake, especially if she wanted to take a little.
"I'm surprised you weren't nursed with just the first three fingers of someone's hand," he said.
The Couple Share Three Children
Ripa and Consuelos met on the 1990 "All My Children." Ripa has been a regular on the soap opera before Consuelos was enlisted on the cast in 1995.
According to Ripa's claim, she fell in love immediately after seeing his picture. "When I saw him, the photograph of him, I saw my entire future with him flash before — as I saw it. And I don't believe in any of that, and now I do because of that moment."
Although Consuelos made a good impression on Ripa, he felt he was out of her league.
"I thought she was adorable, hot and sexy and all that stuff, but I was very focused," he said, per HuffPost. "I didn't think I had a chance with her, so I wasn't focused on that."
They got married in 1996 and share three children; Michael, born in 1997; Lola, born in 2001; and Joaquin, born in 2003.
Michael follows in his father's footsteps by trying to make a name for himself in entertainment. He even voiced his father's character in "Riverdale. "
Lola is studying music at New York University, while Joaquin is a student at Michigan University.
Ripa And Consuelos Are Now Empty Nesters
Their children are only in the house part-time, so they deal less with the couple's eating habits. On the downside, the couple are dealing with what it means to be empty nesters.
"The worst part is people would say to us, 'Oh, don't blink because they grow up before you know it, and they'll be out of the house.' And when you're in it, you're so tired, you're so like, bone-tired in your bones that you can't believe that's true," she told Entertainment Tonight in 2021 after their youngest child went off to college. "But we did. We blinked, unfortunately, and now they are grown, adults."
Ripa continued, "So, I think that's really the worst part is that we didn't slow down in real time to appreciate that aspect of them when they were small, because we were so busy protecting them and making sure they were turning into good people and getting things done on time."
However, Ripa chipped that some things have become easier since they left.
"I will say the best part is there's no laundry in our house. There's no dishes. There's like, nothing! Nothing! There's nothing."
Other Things They Spoke About On The Show
The couple also depicted the strange way they hold hands due to the height difference. Due to Consuelos' height, the couple can only hold hands walking far apart.
Ripa added that this led to getting strange looks while they walked on the streets of Manhattan.
"In New York, people are like 'yeah, take up the whole sidewalk," she said. "And I go, 'Have you seen our arms? Shut it.'"
About Their Traditional And Old-fashioned Marriage
During a recent interview, the pair shared details about their relationship. They added that although they were hardworking individuals, the way they dealt with their marriage was as traditional as they come.
"What's funny is I think of us as such a progressive as a couple. I always think of us as politically progressive people," Ripa said, adding, "And yet, when it comes to our own family and our marriage and our roles, I think of us as very traditional and almost old-fashioned in our roles."
According to them, they shared traditional roles in their marriage.
"Mark is really the financial planner, and Mark is responsible for every good financial thing that's ever happened to us," Ripa shared. "And [Kelly] makes the home a home," the "Riverdale" actor added.
