Mark Hamill Reported For Tweeting 'Gay' 69 Times With A Rainbow Emoji

Actor Mark Hamill recently expressed his opposition to Florida’s controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill in Florida classrooms.
The bill, known officially as the Parental Rights in Educational bill, bans the discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity in classrooms.
According to the bill, these lessons, “may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”
The “Star Wars” alum took to Twitter to #SayGayAnyway.

“Star Wars” alum Mark Hamill has never been shy about making his opinion known, and he strongly opposed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by saying the word dozens of times, and followed up his post with a rainbow emoji for good measure.
“I live in Florida and this state is divided into the blue caring and the red uncaring,” one user wrote. “Our leaders are the minority, yet they still control our state.”
“Lol, love how so many people are all ‘read the bill, Mark!’ Like they've read it and fully comprehend it,” another user commented. “3rd grade is roughly 9 years old. If one kid in class has two Moms, and other kids are *gasp* curious, do teachers go "can't discuss, you're too young to understand love!?”
“I have a student with two dads,” another user shared. “Her mother passed away, and her gay uncle adopted her. She's 4 years old and deserves to openly speak about her parents. Florida needs to realize gay couples have young children. They deserve to see the representation of their families too.”
However, later in the day, the esteemed voice actor revealed that he had actually received a complaint about his tweet.
Mark Hamill ‘Had No Intention Of Violating The Network Enforcement Act’ With His ‘Gay’ Tweet
Thanks for informing me of the complaint from the German people- I had no intention of violating the Network Enforcement Act & am relieved to learn that tweeting the word "gay" 69 times with a rainbow emoji is NOT subject to removal under the @Twitter rules or German law ❤️-mh pic.twitter.com/0EJPFtvlFP

Later in the day, Hamill seemed just as surprised as his fans to learn that someone had reported him for his “gay” tweet.
“Thanks for informing me of the complaint from the German people- I had no intention of violating the Network Enforcement Act & am relieved to learn that tweeting the word ‘gay’ 69 times with a rainbow emoji is NOT subject to removal under the @Twitter rules or German law ❤️-mh,” Hamill tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.
The tweet was attached to a screenshot that read, “Hello, Twitter is required by German law to provide notice to users who are reported by people from Germany via the Network Enforcement Act reporting flow. We have received a complaint regarding your account @Hamill Himself, for the following content:”
It then proceeds to show a large block of text simply repeating the word “gay” followed by a rainbow emoji.
“We have investigated the reported content and have found that it is not subject to removal under the Twitter Rules or German law,” the message concluded.
Some fans theorize that it might have been conservative figure Ben Shapiro who reported Hamill’s tweet, as he called him out for it on Twitter. “So I take it you wish to indoctrinate small children into gender and sexual ideology,” he tweeted. “Because that's the only reason you're parroting idiotic propaganda.”

Still, another fan made a much more poignant observation… if the bill is supposed to restrict children from talking about gender identity, why would someone report an adult for trying to have a conversation about it?
