Ethika Donates 16,000 Underwear, Leggings, Beanies To Refugees In Ukraine

Popular underwear and fashion brand, Ethika, is donating a huge supply of clothing and essentials to victims of the war in Ukraine.

The company is shipping over 16,000 units of underwear, leggings, and beanies for men, women, and children.

We've obtained a photo of the boxes being prepped for the trip overseas, leaving the companies flagship office in Orange County, California.

As you can imagine, this is a critical time for many who are being forced to leave to country. Reports suggest over 2 million refugees are fleeing the area, and many consist of families with displaced children and the elderly. At this point, food, medical care, and emergency support like clothing are crucial in helping the citizens who are being forced away from their homes.

It should be noted, much humanitarian aid is having trouble finding the right people who are in need of help. According to ABC News, ports are being blocked and roads are extremely dangerous due to treacherous bombings. On Tuesday, the United Nations issued a message saying $1.7 Billion is needed to aid the efforts, estimating that 12 million people in Ukraine and 4 million refugees will need aid in the coming months.

The good news, many are stepping up in the United States and donating to help victims in the area, like the generous donation from Ethika.

Ethika is known for stepping up when its products can help in an ongoing disaster.

In 2017, Ethika donated 14,000 pairs of underwear to the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. At the time, more than 8,000 evacuees were living in the convention center and were in need of assistance. "I started thinking about the people in Houston and the fact they were displaced from their homes and missing basic necessities, including clean underwear, and it just made sense to help out," CEO Matt Cook said.

In both cases, the retail value of the stunning donation is over $250,000.

The donation comes on the heels of several other celebrities in Hollywood pledging to donate for the relief effort. On Friday, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis raised over $6.8 million -- with an aim of reaching $30 million for her home country. "Today, I am a proud Ukrainian. While my family came to the United States in 1991, I was born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, in 1983. Ukrainians are proud and brave people who deserve our help in their time of need," Mila said.

Following the announcement Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds pledged to match donations to Ukraine up to $1 million. "In 48 hours, countless Ukrainians were forced to flee their homes to neighboring countries. They need protection," he tweeted. Supermodel Gigi Hadid donated her earnings from the current 2022 fashion week, saying it was "to aid those suffering from the war in Ukraine, as well as continuing to support those experiencing the same in Palestine." Adding, "Our eyes and hearts must be open to all human injustice. May we all see each other as brothers and sisters, beyond politics, beyond race, beyond religion."
