Over the weekend, sources reported that Queen Elizabeth II, now 95 years old age, was no longer going to call Buckingham Palace her home. England’s longest-reigning monarch had called the Palace her home for most of her record-breaking 70-year reign.
Queen Elizabeth II Is Moving Out Of Buckingham Palace, Sources Say
Sources revealed that Queen Elizabeth II will be moving out of Buckingham Palace and into Windsor Castle, where she spent most of her time recovering from her recent COVID-19 diagnosis. Although the Queen canceled many of her virtual engagements while she was recovering, she continued to perform “light duties” around the Castle, such as reading and responding to letters and official correspondence.
Although Buckingham Palace is due for a “reservicing,” sources say that the Queen would like to spend more time in Windsor Castle, where she spent her last days with her late husband, Prince Philip¸ who passed away last year.
Royal author and deputy lord lieutenant of Berkshire, Hugo Vickers, told the U.K. Times that “Windsor is the place she loves. She has her memories with Prince Philip there. She has her ponies there and her family nearby. It makes sense.”
The Queen first moved to Windsor Castle during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. At the time, it was only believed to be a temporary measure. Unfortunately, Prince Philip died in April, at age 99. It is now widely believed that Buckingham Palace will remain empty until Prince Charles, 73, takes up the residence when he becomes king. Although Prince Charles prefers his current residence at Clarence House in London, he said that the palace should remain “monarchy HQ” when he ascends to the throne, as per the U.K. Times.

Fortunately, Prince Charles said that the Queen is feeling “a lot better” after her COVID-19 diagnosis. Fortunately, the Queen is feeling well enough to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at her first in-person meeting since her recovery.
The Queen approached Trudeau inside Windsor Castle with a walking stick and donned a patterned dress for the occasion. She wore a long-sleeve blue, green, and white dress with black shoes that had a small heel. She was also seen wearing her signature pearl necklace with matching earrings. She was photographed smiling, laughing, shaking hands with Trudeau, although one source noted that she seemed “visibly frailer.”
However, many users objected to the fact that neither the Queen nor Justin Trudeau were wearing masks, although both parties have been vaccinated.
“No masks!” one user wrote.
“How are they not in masks?” another asked.
However, others expressed relief that the Queen was up and about again after recovering from COVID-19.
“At a time when good news is hard to find, it’s fab to see HM Queen back up seeing people and recovered from Covid,” one user wrote.
“What a beautiful picture,” another added. “May the meeting be productive. Detail: the colors of the flowers in the vase.” In the background of the photo, blue and yellow flowers, the colors of Ukraine’s flag, can be seen in the background. Many users believe that the addition of the flowers marks the countries’ joint support for Ukraine.
