Netflix Introduces Interactive Game Show Called ‘Trivia Quest’

Although Netflix has carried episodes of “Jeopardy!” for some time now, it appears that they’re ready to jump into the game show business with its first-ever original game show.

The series is being produced by Daniel Calin and Vin Rubino of Sunday Sauce Productions, as per The Hollywood Reporter. The project is based on the Etermax mobile game called “Trivia Crack” and will feature its iconic mascot.

The game show will tell the story of a hero named Willy who goes around rescuing the animated citizens of Trivia Land from the “bad guy” Rocky, who is “bent on hoarding all the knowledge in the world.”

Each episode will feature 24 questions – 12 standard and 12 “hard” questions – across categories that include science, history, entertainment, sports, art, and geography, just like in the mobile game. If players get answers wrong, they will be able to replay quizzes to get the right answers and accumulate points. Some of the released characters have been reportedly inspired by Netflix characters.

What Do Fans Think Of Netflix’s New Game Show Series So Far?

“Netflix needs to get the rights to as many fmv games as possible,” one fan wrote. “Imagine playing Dragon's Quest on your tv in HD.”

“This looks pretty cool!” said another.

“I will unironically play this,” another user added.

“I didn't expect this will be a series,” said another. “This will be entertaining.”

“I knew it! A year ago there was an announcement that netflix will be making and streaming video games, now I understand what they ment by video games, not big games like you normally play on the x-box or playstation but games like you play on your phone, simple games,” another stated. “I think this will be their first video game on netflix, well you can say It's just the interactive feature but I would consider this one a video game because It looks more like one than the other interactive movies that netflix put out there.”

“Coming soon: Duolingo: The Movie,” another joked.

“This is why my Netflix bill is going up?” another asked. “No thanks.”

Another noted, “The irony that it's coming on April fools.”
