Mariska Hargitay pays tribute to the late Ned Eisenberg on social media.

The actress, 57, took to Instagram to share an emotional message about her "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" costar on Wednesday.

Mourning His Loss

"My heart is so full of sadness over the loss of our dear, dear Ned Eisenberg," Hargitay started. "What a light and what a love. And such a first-rate actor, which pales next to him as a first-rate human."

She continued, "We will remember him always with his bright, mischievous smile and his wide-open heart. We love and miss you, sweet Ned."

Hargitay also added a picture of the actor smiling while dressed in a black suit.

Eisenberg Died Of Cancer

Eisenberg passed away at the age of 65 on Sunday at his New York home, as confirmed by his agents at Nicolosi & Co. TMZ was the first to report the news of his death.

Before he died, the actor had been battling two forms of cancer -- cholangiocarcinoma and ocular melanoma. Eisenberg's wife, Patricia, said he "bravely fought" his cancer diagnoses in a statement shared to People.

"As Ned would say, he was attacked by two very rare assassins — cholangiocarcinoma and ocular melanoma," she shared. "Over the course of two years, he bravely fought the cancers in private while continuing to work in show business to ensure that his medical coverage paid for himself and his family."

In addition to his wife, Eisenberg is survived by their son, Lino.

Tributes Pour In

Following his death, numerous notable personalities have shared tributes to the late "Mare of Easttown" star.

Actor Erik Liberman posted Eisenberg's photo to his Instagram feed and wrote in the caption: "I’ve just learned through @dannybur that the great #nedeisenberg has left us."

He continued, "He was an amazing artist and man and friend. We met in 1998 at Sundance Theatre Lab and worked together again on new plays @newdramatists and @estnyc and The Actors Center and probably elsewhere. Always brilliant, always kind, onstage, backstage, on the street. I’ll miss him terribly."

Ilana Levine of "Little Known Facts Podcast" also penned a heartfelt tribute on the social media site:

"A shocking loss for all of us who know and love Ned," she began. "There was no one like him. His smile lit up a room and when he spun you around a dance floor you felt like Ginger Rogers. Rest In Peace you sweet sweet man. ❤️ #NedEisenberg a true Prince . @nakedangelsnyc."

Remembering The Actor

Naked Angels, an NYC-based theatre company that Eisenberg cofounded also released a statement regarding his passing.

"Our dear Ned. The outpouring of love and admiration from this company and everyone who knew you is boundless," the statement read. "An actor’s actor, a joyful , kind human, a real class act. You made everyone you met feel like they were on the top of the world. Our hearts go out to your family who you loved beyond measure. Rest In peace, Ned. You live in our hearts always."

Former manager Craig Dorfman also paid tribute to his friend, saying Eisenberg "was one of the kindest and most talented actors with whom I ever worked. He will be missed."
