Harry Hamlin On TAE Technologies: 'It’s A $5 Billion Company'

Harry Hamlin opened up about his company, TAE Technologies.
In a new interview with Andy Cohen for Interview Magazine, the actor, 70, who is married to "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Lisa Rinna, 58, shared how he's taking on climate change through "clean electricity."
Harry Hamlin Is A Man Of Science
"I started a company in 1998, which is now called TAE Technologies (Tri Alpha Technologies)," he told Cohen. "We are partnered with Google, and have been for seven years. Now it’s a $5 billion company, and we are on the road to bringing clean non-radioactive fusion to the world."
"Talking about acting is like talking about toys," he explained. "This is a real project involving some of the most brilliant nuclear scientists in the world. They are inventing a brand new way to make electricity that doesn’t use fossil fuels, doesn’t pollute the environment, can’t blow up, can’t melt down. It only makes helium as a byproduct."
Helping The Environment
Hamlin also noted that they have been "working on it for 23 years." That said, people take advantage of clean electricity "around 2030."
When Cohen asked whether Hamlin goes to an office, the "Clash of the Titans" star said, "No, there’s no need for that. I’m the founder of the company, but I’m not a nuclear scientist and I’m not a businessman."
He added, "But I saw the opportunity to investigate this silver bullet for climate change back in 1998. My passion in life is climate change, and trying to find the solution for it."
Thinking Of The Future
While he can't fully fight climate change, Hamlin said, "having a clean, cheap source of electricity will help mitigate it."
"I’ll be six feet under by the time it’s all over the world, but someday it will be there. Scientists have always known that fusion was going to be the way we’d make our electricity; it’s just really, really hard to do," he shared.
How It Began
In August, Hamlin told British Thoughts Magazine as to what sparked his interest in Fusion Energy.
"In 1980, I was living in Rome, and I went to a cocktail party at the consulate. And everyone there was speaking in a language that I didn’t understand. Then a man walked up to me, and he heard me speak English," he recalled. "And he said, 'Can I tell you about this project I’m working on? It is this new way to make electricity that’s completely clean, pollution-free and non-radioactive.' He turned out to be a Serbian nuclear physicist, who was part of this big lab in Princeton, New Jersey, where all of the plasma physicists and fusion scientists were located."
Companies Lining Up
While still in the works, Hamlin revealed several big companies that are keen on partnering with TAE Technologies.
"There’s a TV commercial going on right here in the United States now, by Chevron and they actually mentioned that they’re getting into nuclear fusion as one of their projects and that’s us," he said. "We’ve been talking to Chevron for years. So when they talk about nuclear fusion, they’re talking about TAE. Chevron has been circling us so has Shell and BP. All these companies have been around us for years because they know that ultimately, the way we’re going to go in the world is with fusion."
