The studio has been my home for the past four years, and I’m thrilled to continue this supportive and trusted partnership, while having the unique opportunity to create for every possible platform across the industry.'

Sam Esamil has a long-running history with NBCUniversal. His debut series 'Mr. Robot' was a huge favorite among fans and was also responsible for making a star out of Rami Malek. Surely, a writer-director-producer like Sam Esmail deserves this VIP treatment from UCP and other content platforms. He is not only an artistic wonder but also a 'cash-cow'. Sam's talents range from creating mind-boggling plots with intricate visuals to enduring deep layers of humanitarian sufferings. In this way, he delves into interesting stories with great philosophical depth.
That's why Sam's shows not only target young adults, but also hardcore cinephiles. Sam's shows are entertaining as well as intellectually satisfying, which lures in the audience from all sectors of society.
What Was So Great About 'Mr. Robot'?
'Mr. Robot' was Sam Esmail's debut web series. The plot revolves around Elliot(played by Malek), who has lost his father to leukemia. His father's cancer was a result of a chemical leak that happened at one of the industries of a large conglomerate called E Corp. Since then, E Corp, through large sums of money, has tried successfully to cover up this incident. E Corp is filled with careless corruption towards both, the market and humans. This is why a hacktivist group called fsociety tries to bring it down. For this, they recruit Elliot to their group and the story progresses.
'Mr Robot' is not only a 'techie' show, it also has a deeply human and emotional side to it. This is what makes Sam's creation wonderful. The show remarkably enunciates the modern technological era and how it shapes humanity. The show's excellence was recognized by the Golden Globes, where it won the award for Best Television Series. Malek and Slater also grabbed Golden Globes in the field of acting.
What Is The Connection Between 'Metropolis' and 'Mr. Robot'?

'Metropolis' is a Sci-Fi film directed by Fritz Lang. It is called one of the pioneers of science fiction in cinema. The film came out in 1927 and is still regarded as one of the most influential pieces of cinema, ranking 35th in Sight and Sound's 2012 poll. The film shows a dystopian future where the wealthy live in skyscrapers while the poor struggle to make a living. The film follows two protagonists who try to bring a revolution in society by bridging the gap between classes.
'Mr. Robot' also tackles a similar idea of a class divide, where large conglomerates like E Corp try to subdue the market with money and power. Elliot's father dying from leukemia symbolizes the struggles of the middle-class. On these terms, 'Metropolis' and 'Mr. Robot' share a common sentiment, and maybe that's why Sam Esmail is now interested in adapting 'Metropolis'.
There are no confirmed dates as to when the shoot will start, nor are the cast members confirmed as yet. But Sam Esmail will be the showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the show.
