During the initiation, Martin tells Mulaney, “What we’re all trying to say is that this has become not special.”

“Did somebody say not special?” Conan O’Brien demands as he bursts into the room.

“John, don’t listen to them, this is very, very special. I was in the very first five-timers special,” O’Brien continues as he mentions how he and Mulaney were writers, not performers, on the show. “John and I were never supposed to be on TV. We’re hideous.”

Bergen also congratulated Mulaney, joking, “Let me be the first person to say ‘who are you’?” Mulaney replied, “You wouldn’t know me, but if you have a niece or a son who’s bad at sports, they might.”

Fey appeared with a drink called a Five-Timers Fizz, which she said was made up of “Justin Timberlake’s tequila, Dan Aykroyd’s vodka, and Tracy Morgan’s club soda, which is aquarium water.” She added that Mulaney wrote “that character with Bill Hader and 800 other things that aged terribly.”

The group started to get concerned that there were now too many people in the club, with Bergen saying, “In order for you to get in, someone has to retire.”

Martin said that they couldn’t get rid of Fey because “she was the first woman ever to wear glasses on TV.” Fey said that they had to keep Bergen because she was “back here in the ’70s. Can you imagine the sexual harassment that happened back then?”

Rudd, who had his own Five-Timers Club celebration impacted last year due to COVID-19, gave Mulaney his jacket, although he said that his show was “going to be a lot better until the whole cast decided to call in sick.”
