Singer Johnny Cash is still beloved by many.

The singer-songwriter, musician, and actor was born on February 26, 1931, in Kingsland, Arkansas. He later passed away on September 12, 2003, at the Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown in Nashville, Tennessee.

Singer Johnny Cash was born John R. Cash and was known for his trademark bass-baritone voice. Although he was born to cotton farmers, he rose to fame performing on the rockabilly scene in Memphis, Tennessee, after a four-year run in the Air Force.

He has produced many notable songs over the years, including “Folsom Prison Blues,” “I Walk the Ring,” “Ring of Fire,” and “Man in Black.” Later in his career, he began to cover songs by contemporary rock artists, including “Hurt” by Nine Inch Nails and “Rusty Cage” by Soundgarden.

Cage is one of the best-selling musical artists of all time after selling 90 million records globally. His songs ranged in genre from country, rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, and gospel. Cash was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame due to his wide variety of contributions to the music industry. His rise to fame and subsequent career were portrayed in the 2005 biopic “Walk the Line,” where he was portrayed by actor Joaquin Phoenix.
