Lizzo, born Melissa Viviane Jefferson, is a singer, songwriter, and flutist. She's famous for her hit singles like "Truth Hurts," "Good As Hell," "Juice," and several others. Despite her success in music, the three-time Grammy winner once threw her hat in the acting scene.
Last November, Lizzo posted a series of videos auditioning for the Disney sea witch, Ursula, in "The Little Mermaid" live-action movie. The videos were of her in the full Ursula get up, singing the villain's signature song and even playing the opening notes of Sebastian's "Under The Sea."
Melissa McCarthy eventually got the role, but Lizzo maintained that her auditions were a worthy shot. She appeared in a recent interview talking about her new reality show, "Watch Out For the Big Grrrls." In the interview, Lizzo talked about the Ursula audition and said she thought it was "good" and was pretty sure Disney thought the same way
Lizzo Said Her Ursula Audition Was 'Good'
In a recent interview with Variety, Lizzo talked about her new reality tv show and how she handled the entire process. The interview also delved into her previous audition for Disney sea witch Ursula. The actress auditioned for the role late last year; however, Melissa McCarthy was picked instead.
When asked about her auditioning history, she said, "Everyone knows I auditioned for Ursula in [Disney's upcoming live action] 'The Little Mermaid," and I didn't get it. But you know, I'm fine as he**. That has nothing to do with Ursula, but I was down to make Ursula a THOT, shaking ass."
The actress then revealed that her audition was good, although she didn't get the role. "My audition wasn't terrible. Sometimes I like to make jokes. My audition was good. You can ask Disney. I don't want to talk too much about it. The singing was great. I'll just say that."
Lizzo Posted A Video Auditioning For Ursula In November
Although the "Truth Hurts" singer didn't get the role, she certainly made an effort. November 2018, Lizzo posted a video on Instagram of her dressed up as the Disney sea witch, belting out the lyrics to her "Poor Unfortunate Souls" number.
The singer dressed up as Ursula for Halloween and complemented the look with a full-on performance. Lizzo got the look down to pat with her full body purple paint, shocking white hair, a face of make-up including high eyebrows, and a shocking amount of eye shadow. It all looked very Ursula-like.

The video was captioned, "I'M URSULA. PERIOD." Then the singer proceeded to tag Disney. The video got much attention from fans and fellow celebrities alike as they flooded the comment section with support.
Lizzo Played More Audition Videos
The video of Lizzo singing "Poor Unfortunate Souls" isn't the only one she posted in the Ursula garb. The singer posted two more videos on her Instagram account auditioning for the Disney movie role. The first video was of her playing the first few notes of Sebastian's "Under The Sea" before switching to her version.
The post was captioned, "URSULA RATCHET AF." Then the singer told her followers to tag Disney. The second video was of her having a phone conversation with one of the lead characters, Prince Eric, who she called her "side bi***."

"What you mean she still over there? That bitch don't even got a voice," she said in the video. "Well, call me when she goes. Uh-huh. Hakuna Matata to you too.” The post was captioned "PRINCE ERIC IS MY SIDE BI***" alongside another request for her fans to tag Disney.
Lizzo And Mccarthy Bonded At Adele's Show
Lizzo talked about her chance meeting with McCarthy at the Adele show in the Variety interview. She said, "You know what's crazy? At the Adele show, I ran into Melissa McCarthy because she [got cast as] Ursula. She was like, 'Hi, I'm Melissa.' And I was like, 'Hi, I'm Melissa. And I also auditioned for Ursula.'"
Lizzo continued, "And she was like, 'Well, why the hell did I get the part?' which is a classic Melissa McCarthy thing to say. And then I was like, 'Girl because my audition was terrible.' And I say that as Tyler Perry walks by. And I was like — ruined my chances there."
The exchange blossomed into a friendship of some sort because just a week before the casting choices were announced, McCarthy posted a picture of both of them at the MTV Movie and TV awards with a sweet caption.
It read, "Hopefully when I grabbed @lizzobeeating and told her I loved her, 1% of her magic was transferred to me, so now by osmosis, I am 1% that bitch." Lizzo then replied, "Baaaahahahahaha u 1000% sis!"
