While the public’s attention has been drawn to Britney Spears and conservatorship, some may overlook the fact that actress Amanda Bynes has shared a similar fate with the pop singer since 2013. After Bynes got involved in some danger-filled ordeals, including getting into a series of vehicle accidents and setting fire to a driveway in California, her parents took legal action and were finally placed in control of their daughter's healthcare and money.
Following Spears termination of her conservatorship late last year, it appears that Bynes has taken a leaf from the singer and wants to get back on the driving seat of her finance and other affairs restricted by the legal binding.
The American actress just filed a lawsuit to end her conservatorship, which will serve as a huge step on the path to personal freedom.
Read on below.
Amanda Wishes To End Her Conservatorship
According to the court document filed in Ventura County court in California, the actress requested that the outside control of her person and estate be dissolved permanently. Through the filing, she expressed her displeasure at being kept under the shackles of the conservatorship for more than was necessary.
To back up her claim, Bynes submitted paperwork with her doctor, requesting an update on her mental health, which she believes would help the swing the court’s decision in her favor during the upcoming hearing.
Amanda's lawyer, David Esquibias, had earlier given an interview in September, citing that his client’s conservatorship would cease when it was "no longer convenient." "Then it could be over. He also provided an update on his client, stating that she is "doing pretty well, except from worry and trauma.""
Amanda's petition to end the conservatorship is set for a hearing on March 22.
Amanda Bynes Conservatorship Story
Through most of her teen years, Bynes was on a path of abusing drugs while juggling an active acting career. The actress dabbled into Marijuana, later progressing to Molly, ecstasy and the occasional bit of cocaine.
Like most drug addicts, Bynes life and career spiraled out of her control, which led to her getting embroiled in many unfortunate incidents. The series of events prompted the actress family, led by her mother Lynn to seek for interim custody over her affairs and finances.
Almost a decade has elapsed since the start of the legal binding. While it has been quite a harried journey for the actress following stints in rehab, she appears to have returned to her prime mental state before the meltdown in 2013.
