A few days later, he tweeted, “Whelp. More members of the band tested positive for Covid today, and I was one of them. This means we have to reschedule the next four shows, which we’ve already rescheduled and posted above. I’m so sorry to make you change your plans.”

He included a link to his ticketmaster concert page. His next scheduled tour date is listed as March 11 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. From there, he makes multiple stops at The Forum in Inglewood, California, before heading to Seattle, Denver, Tampa, Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, Houston, Chicago, Toronto, and Pittsburgh. He makes a final stop on Long Island, New York, before wrapping up his tour with a two-night stay in Boston on May 9 and 10th.

Although there have probably been other times that the “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” singer has tested positive for the virus since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020 that he hasn’t publicly disclosed, fans couldn’t help but bring up the fact that he just tested positive for the virus at the start of the new year.

“You were just positive last month for @playthesand!”  one fan commented. “Wow that's totally crazy.”

“So he tested positive on 1/5/22 and 2/24/22? This seems highly unlikely. I think he just didn’t want to travel to Mexico in January,” one fan wrote.

“No, this is not highly unlikely. Omicron or recent variant reinfection can happen as little as a few weeks after initial infection. It’s probably even more common than detected,” another countered.

“In the past two months people (medical, parents) have reported patients testing positive, recovering to negative PCR and then becoming positive again in as little as 4-5 weeks later (either after initial positive or the negative, not sure which),” another shared.

“Agreed,” said another. “Well it’s unfortunate. I hope John and his band are vaxed and boosted. I am. I enjoyed his show in Philly. If you’re seeing him, I hope you have a great time and stay healthy.”

John Mayer Reveals That He Needs To ‘Rest Up And Regroup’

The “Waiting on the World to Change” singer posted a longer message on Instagram, where he provided a small addition about his health.

“Whelp. More members of the band tested positive for Covid today, and I was one of them,” he wrote. “This means we have to reschedule the next four shows, which we’ve already rescheduled and posted above. I’m so sorry to make you change your plans.”

“This is a bummer for everyone in the band and crew, to say nothing of the question hanging over everyone’s head - mine included - as to how I tested positive on PCR twice in two months,” he admitted. “(The first was extremely mild, but this one’s got the better of me.) We’ll give you everything we’ve got at these upcoming shows, just as soon as we rest up and regroup. With love and appreciation… me.”

Many fans commented on the post to wish him a speedy recovery.
