"The Blacklist" is certainly one of the most popular crime thriller television series right now. The show has around 180 episodes and spans nine seasons. The latest season started airing in October last year and, due to a month-long hiatus, is still releasing episodes.

This season took place sometime after the tragic events of season eight and followed the attempts by the FBI group to reconnect and continue their noble cause of tracking all the names on the famous Blacklist. Season nine also saw the departure of two key players both on set and behind the scenes.

TVLine just revealed that "The Blacklist" was renewed for its 10th season. The actor and executive producer Spader delivered the news on Tuesday on an episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." The announcement happened not long after the episodes started airing after the month-long break.

This series renewal will vault it past the 200 episode mark. Even with the departure of lead character Megan Boone as Elizabeth Keen and the series creator and showrunner, Jon Bokenkamp, the series is apparently still thriving this season.

Boone And Bokenkamp Left The Show

Boone being cut off "The Blacklist" in season eight was one move fans didn't expect. The actress revealed that she had to be killed off because she intended to leave. She said she wanted to work on other projects aside from the crime thriller series.

To her fans, she wrote, "This experience, for me, has been an entire life inside of my own life. These eight years playing Liz Keen have helped me better define the world and myself."

The actress wasn't the only one who left. Show creator and co-executive producer Bokenkamp also left the series this season. He posted on Twitter, informing his followers about his decision and how difficult it was.

The post read, "I wanted to write you directly to let you know that I've made the difficult decision to leave 'The Blacklist.' I love this show with all of my heart, and it's been an incredible journey, but after eight years, I feel it's time for me to step out of my comfort zone, try something new, and explore a few of the other characters and stories that have been crawling around in my head."
