Leto will portray Neumann in the AppleTV series, and Hathaway will play his wife Rebekah Neumann, who previously served as the eventual third co-founder of the company after she was later added on alongside her husband and Miguel McKelvey, the company’s second co-founder. According to People, McKelvey will be played by Kyle Marvin. America Ferrera will also be part of the cast.
“WeCrashed” will focus on the relationship dynamic between Adam and Rebekah, as they navigate the highly publicized rise and fall of the company. The Neumanns are both known for their eccentric personalities which both play a big role in the story of WeWork’s foundation.
In a scene from the trailer, Hathaway’s Rebekah can be seen walking around the under-construction workspace, while she utters a line that could sum up WeWork’s entire business model and story: “We’re selling an experience.”
The Wondrey podcast “WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork” serves as the series’ inspiration, according to People.

The emphasis on the experience that WeWork aimed to bring forth, is extremely present in the trailer from its collaborative planning stages to the high-end lifestyle the Neumann’s thrived upon as a result of their success.
The trailer also draws attention to Adam’s endless drive to bring WeWork’s vision to life, and the driving force behind the company: his boisterous and “crazy” personality that is hinted at as being the secret to the company’s success and survival.
Rebekah Neumann’s role in the company will also be extensively featured.
At one point in the trailer, Hathaway’s Rebekah is asked if she is “A maverick or a muse.” She pauses for a second and answers “muse,” before further explaining her goal of being featured in the pages of Vanity Fair, before being told, “Vanity Fair is not for muses.” With an unwavering straight face, Rebekah says “Then I want to change my answer.”
Rebekah’s desire to serve as a muse is based on the real-life Neumann’s strong intentions to help WeWork have a global impact on workplace culture. According to Bumble via a 2018 episode of Lewis Howes’ podcast “The School of Greatness” where Neumann is the guest, she said “My intention when I met [Adam] was just, ‘How do we expand this good vibration to the planet?'”
The story chronicling the “good vibrations” Rebekah intended for WeWork will be eight episodes long, and the first three will be available for streaming on the series’ premiere date on March 18th, and the next five will be dropped in “weekly installments each Friday through April 22nd,” via People.
