Teen Mom: OG star Amber Portwood is sharing some of the raw points of her life in the new memoir, So, You’re Crazy Too? The reality star’s bio is not for the faint of heart as she recounts stories that are admittedly triggering for her audience but ultimately, could be helpful.
Amber Portwood Asks Fans If They Are Crazy
The 31-year-old has been on the popular MTV show for over a decade and whether fans wanted to or not they were along for the ride as she navigated becoming a teen mother in 16 and Pregnant to showing that motherhood can be a complete mess if you don’t have it together on Teen Mom and later Teen Mom: OG.
Portwood posted about her new project on social media this week. “TOMORROW LOVES 2-22-22 📖 I’ve been waiting for this day to finally come and I’m so happy 🥳 order in the link in my bio and stories now 💖 Happy Monday you beautiful souls 💫.”
She followed up that post with a disclaimer a day later when the book was officially released. “Happy 2️⃣-2️⃣2️⃣-2️⃣2️⃣ Today is the day 🤩 I’m so happy to share my book with all of you,” she wrote. However, the mother of two made sure to point out that some of the topics are hard to get through.
“(be warned ⚠️) it is a very raw telling of my life experiences, but I can’t wait for you all to read it 👓 Thank you to all of your beautiful souls for supporting me on this journey, it means so much to me.”

What’s All The Hype Around Amber’s Book?
The trigger warning was much needed because Portwood shared stories of abusive past relationships, drug use, and her infamous time in jail (remember when she chose jail over rehab?)
Portwood shares a daughter with ex Gary Shirley and a son with ex Andrew Glennon. However, she was almost a mom or three. “When my ex [Gary] and I had broken up for a while because the fighting was so bad, I was hanging out with a heroin addict and I accidentally got pregnant,” she wrote.
She also noted that this was around the time in 2013 that she was set to go to prison for assaulting Shirley. The reality star opted for an abortion but shared that the decision was overwhelming. “I finally had an abortion; however, it was devastating to me. Again, I do not know why I made the decisions I made during this time in my life.”

Mental Health Is A Big Deal For Amber Portwood
Portwood has always been upfront about her troubled past even allowing the show to continue to follow her as she made battled legal issues. While she has had her ups and downs, one thing has been constant on her life, her push to make sure she stays mentally healthy.
She regularly shares encouraging positive posts and has especially done so after releasing the memoir knowing that it is fairly triggering. Fans didn’t necessarily need a memoir because Portwood’s indiscretions are all over TV and social media. However, the detail fans are receiving is encouraging them to discuss some of the revelations on social media.
Fans Are Split On Amber’s Memoir
While some commend the reality star for sharing her struggles, “I got it in the mail yesterday and I’m almost done reading! Wow! I love it and can relate way more than I thought.” Others are wondering why a memoir was even necessary.
One follower congratulated Portwood but questioned why we need to read it when fans lived it with her. Fortunately, Portwood hasn’t allowed trolls to tank her spirit in a while. She has graciously been thanking fans and followers all week.
The young mom went live on IG Wednesday to promote her book with co-writer Thea De Sousa. She was excited and admittedly “full of emotions” but thankful to finally get to share her story through her own words and not the lens of MTV and reality TV.
Portwood’s book is available to order online, or you pick up a physical copy in a store. This is the second book for the reality star who in 2017, wrote Never Too Late about her experience as a reality TV star.
