Maralee Nichols Shares Baby's Name And Meaning: 'My Greatest Blessing'

Maralee Nichols has revealed the name of the infant son whom she shares with her estranged baby daddy Tristan Thompson. 

Nichols shocked the world when she announced she had given birth to Thomson's child. The two then engaged in a public paternity battle that ended up confirming the mother's claims.

The fitness model took to social media with her son's title, the meaning behind it, and a story about his conception.

On Thursday, February 24, Nichols updated her Instagram page with a candid message to her followers about her son's name, Theo, and why she chose to give him the title.

The happy mother uploaded a full body photo with her baby hidden from the camera. The two sported a matching white ensemble. 

Nichols wore a form-fitting white dress with her dark waves cascading down to her waist while Theo sported a onesie and identical beanie.

In her captions, the model wrote that Theo is her little angel baby, and she chose the moniker. because it translates to "Gift from God." Nichols also revealed she was told she might never conceive. She continued:

"I couldn't believe I was pregnant, when I saw you on the ultrasound and heard your little heartbeat I knew I would always protect you and keep you safe."

Now that the mother-of-one has received her miraculous offspring, she is full of love and touched on how blessed she feels to have him in her life, writing:

"I love you more than you'll ever know. You bring such joy and happiness into my life. My greatest blessing."

The full name of Nichols' baby is Theo Thompson, and he was born in Santa Monica, California, on December 1, 2021, according to the birth certificate retrieved by PEOPLE.

Although the son bears his father's surname, the NBA player is not listed on the document as the baby's birth was registered while he was disputing the paternity claims.

Nichols stated on the birth certificate that the athlete was absent from the paternal section because he was not around during Theo's birth.

Speculations began swirling that Thompson was paying thousands of dollars in child support to Nichols and his other baby mamas, Khloe Kardashian and Jordan Craig.

Earlier this month, The Blast disclosed that Nichols addressed the NBA's star's neglect of her son through a statement via her spokesperson.

In the address submitted to PEOPLE on Tuesday, February 15, the representative accused Thompson of being completely absent in all aspects of his son's life, stating:

"Despite news reports stating otherwise, Tristan Thompson has done nothing to support their son. He has not made any attempt to meet their son, nor has he provided any financial assistance.”

The representative showed that his client was not pleased with the circulating false narratives and implored reporters covering the situation to confirm facts before publishing news.

Due to Thompson's net worth of about $45 million, he reportedly pays $40,000 monthly to his first son Prince and daughter True. Lawyer Morghan Richardson told Hollywood Life about his estimated payment to Nichols.

Richardson said, “Reports show that his income is about $10mil, so based on that number, and the report that he’s paying $40k per month for his son when I run the calculator, I get an estimate of $34k. Per month.”

Last December, Nichols accused Thompson of encouraging her to get rid of her pregnancy, as seen in court documents.

The Blast revealed these papers were retrieved by PageSix and showed that Nichols requested to submit text messages between her and the athlete through her attorney.

The model claimed that the NBA star wanted her to terminate her pregnancy as he would not support their child. The document reads:

“It is also apparent from the context and substance of these communications that they are from Tristan to Maralee, which reflects that Tristan is addressing the parties’ relationship, and even with respect to her pregnancy insisting that she get an abortion and threatening that she will get next to nothing with lesser support requirements in Texas.”
