In January, “16 and Pregnant” alum Jordan Cashmyer passed away.
Cashmyer had appeared on the fifth season of the MTV reality show, which aired in 2014. Her episode featured her and her then-boyfriend, Derek Taylor, struggling with the birth of their first child. Cashmyer had been disowned by her family, who did not support their relationship. The homeless teen struggled to find employment and eventually gave birth to her daughter, Evie.
The relationship came to an end after the cameras stopped rolling, and Cashmyer’s hardships only escalated from there. Her father passed away shortly after filming, and Cashmyer decided to temporarily sign custody rights of their child over to Derek’s mother in 2015.
In 2017, Cashmyer was arrested for drug possession. After she was released, she had been working at a strip club and had seemed committed to her recovery. In 2021, she had celebrated one year of sobriety. However, it is now revealed that she passed away from a drug overdose.
Autopsy Confirms That Jordan Cashmyer Had Fentanyl & Cocaine In Her System At Time Of Death
According to USA Today, the Maryland Department of Health Office of Chief Medical Examiner revealed that Cashmyer has passed away due to fentanyl and cocaine intoxication. A representative for the Department of Health, Andy Owen, confirmed that her manner of death is still undetermined.
Cashmyer passed away on January 14, only nine days after her 27th birthday. After news of her passing was made public, Teen Mom tweeted, “We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Jordan Cashmyer. Our hearts go out to her family and friends during this difficult time.”

Representative Howard Wood told USA Today that “This has been a very sad couple of days.”
He called Cashmyer “a sweet, caring and good hearted person. I'm honored to have been able to know and work with Jordan for many years and wish life would have been kinder to her. I hope she is in a better place.”
Jordan Cashmyer’s GoFundMe Page Contains Inconsistent Information
Jordan Cashmyer’s family set up a GoFundMe page to help with expenses related to Cashmyer’s other daughter, Lyla, who is now six months old.
“Our daughter Jordan tragically lost her life on January 15, 2022, at the age of 26,” the plea began. “Leaving behind a sweet little 6-month-old girl.”
The report indicated that Cashmyer passed away on the 14th, not the 15th. USA Today also reported that she was 27, not 26.
The family said that “addiction” was behind her cause of death, writing, “Addiction plagues many families, and our family was not immune to it.”
“Jordan was always so full of life and full of personality,” the statement continued. “She had a way of always making those around her laugh and smile, and her smile was truly contagious. Our family is heartbroken, and we will forever miss Jordan.”
GoFundMe Page Reveals Both Parents Were Lost To Addiction
The message went on to say that both of Lyla’s parents had been lost to addiction.
“We are now faced with the grim outcome that our grandaughter that we have been raising will never get to make memories with her mother or father, never getting to know them,” they added. “Lyla lost her father to addiction at two months & now her mother at six months.”
“Our family has to now not only put our daughter to rest but navigate through starting over with an infant who has lost both her parents in her six months of life,” they added. “Please help our family cover the costs of Jordan's memorial and start a fund for Lyla's future.”
“We did not foresee starting back over, and all that comes along with that,” they continued. Lyla has been our family's greatest joy and addition; she has been our saving grace during this difficult time.”
“Myself, my wife, our kids, and sweet little Lyla have been shown so much love and words of kindness in the past nine days since Jordan's passing. Our hearts are grateful,” they concluded. “We pray Jordan is finally at peace. Lots of Love, The Cashmyers.”
As of this writing, her GoFundMe page has raised $10,145 dollars of its $15,000 dollar goal.
