If you’re unfamiliar with Camila Cabello, that’s okay! Here’s the scoop.
Camila Cabello was born Karla Camila Cabello Estrabao on March 3, 1997, in Cojimar, Cuba. The 24-year-old performed with Fifth Harmony from 2012 to 2016 before striking out on her own and going solo.
Even while she was still with Fifth Harmony, however, she was still making a name for herself by collaborating with several notable artists. She collaborated with Shawn Mendes on “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and Machine Gun Kelly on “Bad Things.” After she left the group in 2016, she teamed up with Pitbull for “Hey Ma” and J Balvin for “The Fate of the Furious” soundtrack in 2017 and “Crying in the Club.”
Her debut album, “Camila,” was released in 2018 and peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. Her lead single “Havana” topped the charts and her follow-up single, “Never Be The Same” charted in the top ten in the U.S. and the U.K. Camila again collaborated with Mendes for “Señorita,” which became her second single to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
In 2019, she released her second studio album “Romance,” which peaked at number three in the U.S. but placed number one in Canada. She took a brief break from music to star in “Cinderella” in 2021, but her third album, “Familia” is expected to drop in 2022.
Camila has earned two Latin Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and one Billboard Music Award for her word. “Havana” actually became the best-selling digital single of 2018, according to the International Federation of Phonographic Industry (IFPI). In October 21, “Havana” was also certified Diamond by the RIAA, making Camila the first Hispanic woman to receive the certification!
Her fans are anxiously awaiting her to drop “Familia” this year to see her latest album top the charts once again!
