Simone Biles' fairytale romance with beau Jonathan Owens is officially leading to marriage.
On Valentine's day, Owens asked for the star athlete's hand in marriage, and Biles was shocked by the proposal even though she expected it later this year.
A few days after the proposal, the couple was hosted on the TODAY show, where they revealed in detail how the engagement came about and what their future held.
Simone Biles Says She Had No Clue About Her Fiancé's Marriage Proposal
The virtual conversation between the hosts and the newly-engaged couple on the TODAY show was recorded and uploaded on Twitter for fans to catch up on.
The show's social media handlers tweeted above the video, "We're catching up with @Simone_Biles and @jjowens_3 about their engagement and what's next in their lives [red heart emoji]."
The couple was all smiles in the video as they talked about their romance story. Biles had a pink blouse on while Owens had a white shirt on, and they sat close together in front of the camera.
The Olympic medalist began by talking about how the day was at the time. She revealed that it was a typical Valentine's day for them with the 'seamless' way her beau set up everything.
Biles had no clue that Owens would propose as he planned the proposal for more than two months with his cousin's help.
One of the show's hosts, Carson Daly, asked Simone if her ring matched all her hardware since she had so much gold as a gold medalist. Simone replied:
“It’s definitely my most prized possession now, and I’m always wearing it; it definitely beats a gold medal.”
The couple was further asked about preparations for the wedding, including picking a wedding date. They are currently still making plans, but nothing has been set yet.
At the end of the video, Biles addressed the mental struggles athletes experience as Americans who go to the Olympics and feel like failures.
She further sent her love to Mikaela Shiffrin, an Olympic gold medalist who she recently advised about the hateful comments athletes get.
Fans were pretty excited for the soon-to-be-wedded as they took to the comments to congratulate them and wish them well.
According to ET, Owens and Biles have been together since 2020, and he proposed to the 24-year-old in a gazebo in Houston, Texas.
The overjoyed fiancée went on to Instagram to share her relationship status and write sweet words to the love of her life.

The Olympic Medal Recipient Shares Detailed Proposal Pictures To Fans
The day after Biles' proposal, The Blast reported that the influential gymnast announced her engagement with a series of romantic Instagram photos showing her boyfriend's proposal to her.
They both looked terrific together; Biles wore a black leather ruched mini dress with matching YSL heels while Owens donned a gray suit with a black turtleneck underneath.
The newly engaged athlete shared detailed photos of the engagement, from the 26-year-old going down on a knee to her shock in seeing her diamond ring and then lovingly embracing her fiancé.
Fans also got a closer look at the oval-cut diamond engagement ring with a video Biles shared. The couple received many congratulatory messages from fans, friends, fellow athletes, and celebrities.
Even with their busy schedules as athletes and not seeing each other as much as they used to during the pandemic lockdown, Owens and Biles' love is stronger than ever as they both value communication.
Simone Biles Chooses Self-Care Over Finals In The Olympics
Biles was proud of her decision to quit the 2021 Olympic final games after her disoriented state in the air during her performance.
Last October, The Blast shared that the American athlete hosted a Q&A session on her Instagram story. She was asked about the Olympic moment that was the most significant in her career.
She replied with 2021 because she dared to prioritize herself over the game, which her 16-year-old self would not have done.
Rather than risk getting badly hurt in the competition, she chose her well-being; however, she later participated in the final balance beam event.
Her decision to choose herself was not taken very well by fans as they sent hateful comments. The critics believed she planned everything to not participate in the finals.
The Ohio native was disappointed by their assumptions and the negative remarks, but that did not stop her progress. She later addressed the criticisms on Instagram, where she stated she was not a quitter.
