The “Overpass Graffiti” singer, now 31, had revealed plans to build a private burial change on his 16-acre Framlingham estate in the U.K. Although his neighbors aren’t happy about it, the “I Don’t Care” singer is going ahead with the project anyway.

As reported by the New York Post, the eco-friendly renovation is estimated to cost over $5 million dollars, which includes the construction of a two-story private chapel complete with its own crypt. The chapel’s construction was first approved in November 2019, and includes a brick, timber, and concrete body vault. The chapel itself will feature stained glass windows and an environmentally-friendly heat pump to keep it warm during the cold winter months.

The East Suffolk District Council has not officially approved the chamber yet, but they are expected to. In England and in Wales, there are no laws against burying bodies on private land. Sheeran applied for a double grave plot-sized burial zone which would be accessible through a ground slab located in the back of the church.

At the time that Sheeran initially applied to build the chapel, East Suffolk council principal design and conservation officer Robert Scrimgeour wrote, “I have no concerns arising and I maintain my previous view that I have no objection to this application.”

However, that doesn’t mean that his neighbors are happy with it. In fact, one could say that it’s giving them “Shivers.”

Neighbors Reject Ed Sheeran’s Chapel: ‘There Is No Need… To Create His Own Island Of Calm’

SWNS spoke to one local resident identified as Anna Woods, who was not happy with the constructions of the “Castle on the Hill” singer’s plans to create his own private resting place.

“I feel I must comment on this plan for a place of worship in a garden,” she said. “The area is well-served by local churches and I feel there is no need for a well-known person to create his own island of calm when lovely places of worship abound in the area.”

She added that his desire to have a resting place separate from everyone else was a sign that there was something “wrong” with modern culture.

“Are celebrities now so detached from reality that their every living breath and now even the act of dying be apart from the rest of us?” she asked.

It's not really clear who the crypt is intended for, although it is assumed that it will be the final resting place of the “Perfect” singer and his wife, CherrySeaborn, who he married in 2019. Seaborn is a field hockey star and took her Durham University school team to two British University championship victories in 2012 and 2013, right as Sheeran’s career was taking off. She also played Division I field hockey at North Carolina university.

They welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran, in August 2020.

Although Sheeran hasn't publicly announced his intentions for the crypt, it does seem like something a “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” super-fan would be interested in. On February 17, the vampire slayer herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, took to Instagram to wish her number one fan a happy birthday!

In fact, Sheeran loves the supernatural teen drama so much that he has even credited it as its influence in several of his songs!

‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Influenced His Songs ‘Afire Love’ And ‘Bad Habits’

The “Shape of You” singer loves “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” so much that he has even sampled songs from the soundtrack in his work.

To make his song “Afire Love,” Sheeran sampled the score “Remembering Jenny,” composed by Christophe Beck, from the episode “Passion” (season 2, episode 17).

His music video for “Bad Habits” was also inspired by the notorious vampire slayer. Sheeran revealed that the show was streamed almost daily on the BBC and he used to watch the show along with his mates.

Considering Gellar has stated that she would be down to appear in one of his music videos, perhaps Sheeran is looking to film a music video right in his own backyard!
