Liam Gallagher Defends Taylor Swift From Damon Albarn: 'She Does Write Her Songs'

Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has some things to say about this.
In January, the “Blur” and “Gorillaz” frontman Damon Albarn came at “All Too Well” singer Taylor Swift and accused her of not writing her own songs.
Albarn criticized the “Love Story” singer in an interview with The Los Angeles Times while promoting his new album “The Nearer The Fountain, More Pure The Stream Flows.”
When the interviewer suggested that Swift was a good example of an “excellent songwriter,” Albarn disagreed.
“That doesn’t count,” he said. “I know what co-writing is. Co-writing is very different to writing.”
“I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes,” he continued. “Doesn’t mean that the outcome can’t be really great.”
Taylor Swift Responds: ‘Your Hot Take Is Completely False And SO Damaging’
PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering 😑

Taylor retweeted the article to remind Albarn and everyone else that she does indeed write her own songs.
“@DamonAlbarn I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this,” she tweeted. “I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really f—ed up to try and discredit my writing. WOW.”
She followed it up with, “PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering.”
i’ve never met damon albarn and he’s never been to my studio but apparently he knows more than the rest of us about all those songs taylor writes and brings in. herb.

Even producer Jack Antonoff, who has worked with Swift on several albums, went off on Albarn on Twitter. “i’ve never met damon albarn and he’s never been to my studio but apparently he knows more than the rest of us about all those songs taylor writes and brings in. herb,” he tweeted.
He later added, “if you were there … cool … go off. If not … maybe … shut the f--- up?”
Damon Albarn Apologizes 'Unreservedly And Unconditionally'
I totally agree with you. i had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait. I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand. - Damon

Shortly after his comments started going viral, Albarn issued an apology that many fans noted didn't actually include a “sorry.”
“I totally agree with you,” Albarn wrote. “i had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait. I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand. – Damon.”
However, many fans weren't buying it and felt that the musician was only trying to defend himself against the backlash that resulted from his comments.
“What part of this was reduced to clickbait?” asked comedian Alex Goldschmidt. “You said her songwriter doesn’t count as songwriting and then compared her to another female artist with a completely different style. Don’t gaslight and throw someone else under the bus because you never thought she’d call you out.”

Liam Gallagher Steps Up To The Plate!
Gallagher has had his own beef with Albarn in the past, and he couldn’t help but weigh in on the controversy in a new interview with NME.
“All them f—ing gorilla [Gorillaz] albums are co-writes aren’t they?” he asks, referring to how Albarn said that Swift only “co-wrote” her songs.
“I get it – [brother] Noel [Gallagher] bangs on about it as well: ‘I’m more important than you because I write my f—ing songs,'” Gallagher continued.
He also took a dig at Albarn for calling Swift out and then immediately walking back his comments.
“Well, he [Albarn] won’t be saying that again in a hurry, though, will he?” Gallaghers said. “Did he not get ran out of f—ing town by the Swifters? I think [Taylor’s] f—ing cool, man. She does write her songs and I’m sure she’s co-wrote with people.”
Considering his praise for the “Wildest Dreams” singer, fans have their fingers crossed that he might be down for a collaboration in the near future!
