Warner Bros "The Batman" movie will be in theaters soon, and DC fans can't wait to see the new spin Matt Reeves will put in the story. The director revealed earlier that his version of the DC superhero would be much darker than the rest and less of a ladies' man.
Robert Pattinson was cast as the new Batman along with Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman and Paul Dano as the Riddler. The trailer revealed Reeves' Batman as more unhinged than the rest and quite brutal with his punishments.
In a recent interview, Pattinson talked about his audition and the number of bat suits he had to try on first. He also revealed some features of his new costume and how different it is from the others. Here are all the details.
Pattinson Said He Tried All The Bat Suits
Pattinson was cast as the caped crusader in Matt Reeves' "The Batman" movie, and he had a lot of things to say about his time filming. In a recent appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," the actor talked about several things, including getting the right voice for the character and his time with the costumes.

When asked if Pattinson read for his Batman role while wearing a bat suit, the actor said he'd worn "every single one." He revealed that he tried on all the bat suits his predecessors wore, from Micheal Keaton to George Clooney to Christian Bale, until Val Kilmer's gave him the desired fit.
The "Twilight" actor said, "Every single still has the actor's kind of swear inside." He also revealed that the suits were stored in "a little cage" in the costume department of Warner Bros.
Pattinson added, "There's the same people in the costume department who worked on every single one of the Batman movies. So they don't really care who the director is or anything. They're like, 'Do not mess these suits up."
Pattinson's Audition Suit Was A Mash-Up Of Others
Still talking about his time with the Bat suits, Pattinson said the actor's head was the defining factor when picking out a bat suit. His suit for the audition was a mash-up of that of two previous actors. He said, "the body fit more on Val Kilmer's one, and the head fit on [George] Clooney's one, so they kind of Frankensteined it."
The actor continued, "Either one didn't really fit, and you've got like three costume workers trying to squeeze your legs into this 30-year-old foam costume which is just disintegrating as you're getting into it. And then you're boiling hot. This is before I'd even got the part. This is the screen test. So you're absolutely terrified."
Pattinson Said His Bat Suit Will Have Some 'Wear And Tear'
Pattinson initially auditioned for the role wearing Kilmer's bat suit and revealed it was a "huge relief" when he finally got his. He admitted that his suit was different from the other sleek designs of his predecessors.
He said, "There are little bloodstains on it. There's kind of grazes where it's been hit with bullets and kind of just the wear and tear of someone who's been out fighting every night… it felt like a really new thing… it looks like a soldier's armor in some kind of strange parallel universe where you have to wear little ears on top of your head as well."
He also talked about the grapple gun and how he used the bat symbol as a weapon in "The Batman," unlike the previous Batmen. He said the entire experience was "quite fun" and compared the device to Travis Bickle's from "Taxi Driver."
'The Batman' Will Premiere On March 4
One bat suit Pattinson didn't get to see was Adam West's. The actor said he grew up watching West as Batman, so he was a bit disappointed when he couldn't try it on. He also mentioned a costume he wore with "very prominent" nipples that he had to be "lubed up and squeezed into."
"The Batman" will be notably darker and grittier than some of its predecessors. The blood splatter on the suit and the grapple gun's use is another twist to the story. It emphasized the vigilante's quest for vengeance instead of the noble act of simply capturing the bad guys.
While the public had some apprehension about the "Remember Me" actor as Batman, it's clear that this version will offer a different look at the caped crusader. "The Batman" is slated to hit the theaters on March 4.
