Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar is wishing her number one fan a happy 31st birthday!

“Bad Habits” singer Ed Sheeran has made it no secret that he is a big fan of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and of Gellar, who played the titular Vampire Slayer Buffy Summers.

On Thursday, the “Scooby-Doo” actress took to Instagram to wish Ed Sheeran a happy birthday!

On Wednesday, Gellar shared a photo of the two side by side in an adorable blurry selfie.

“Hey it’s this guys birthday …” she wrote in the caption. “he probably won’t get worldwide love and adoration today.. so let’s give him a happy birthday here too.”

“Two of my favorite people ever!! 😍😍😍” one fan wrote before the “Harry Potter” comments started rolling in.

“Happy birthday, Ron! 🥳 kidding, happy birthday, Ed! ❤️” another wrote.

“HELP HE AND GINNY WEASLEY SHARE A BIRTHDAY,” another shared.

It’s true! Actress BonnieWright, who portrayed Ginny Weasley in the “Harry Potter” films is ALSO turning 31 today! Her and the “Shape of You” singer were born on the exact same day in the exact same year! As it turns out, a LOT of celebrities share a birthday on February 17.

Many fans showered the post with even more “Happy Birthday” well-wishes!

Seriously though: Ed Sheeran is such a big "Buffy" fan that it's even inspired several of his songs!

‘BtVS’ Influenced ‘Afire Love’ And ‘Bad Habits’

The "Tenerife Sea" singer loves "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" so much that he even includes references to it in his work!

To make his song “Afire Love,” Sheeran sampled the score “Remembering Jenny,” composed by Christophe Beck, from the episode “Passion” (season 2, episode 17).

Turns out, the music video for “Bad Habits” was also inspired by the notorious vampire slayer. Sheeran revealed that the show was streamed almost daily on the BBC and he used to watch the show along with his mates.

It seems that Sarah Michelle Gellar was honored to have inspired his video because she even commented on it when he released it late last year!

Will Sarah Michelle Gellar Be In Ed Sheeran’s Next Music Video?

Sarah Michelle Gellar actually responded to being called the inspiration behind the “Bad Habits” video.

In an Instagram exchange, Gellar wrote, “I interrupt my vacation to bring you some @teddysphotos – but next time instead of being inspired by, just put me in your video…please…thank you. #edsheeran.”

Sheeran replied, “If you’re serious we have to make that happen. Thank you so much for the video message too, I’m sure a huge fan. My song Afire Love samples remembering Jenny from season 2, proper fanboy over here x.”

Fans were understandably excited about the idea of Sheeran and Gellar teaming up for a music video together!

Earlier in July, Sarah Michelle Gellar surprised Sheeran with a video message after he told the hosts of “The One Show” that he binged the entirety of the show during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown last year with wife Cherry Seaborn.

Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Buffy’s younger sister Dawn on the show, also hopped into their Instagram exchange to say “But the real challenge is did he hate Dawn? @sarahmgellar … How do I audio audition for this?”

Fans are now hoping for a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" music video featuring the original "Buffy" cast! Fans already know they all have singing talent, considering that there was once an entire musical episode of "Buffy!"

‘Say You’re Happy Now… Once More With Feeling’

The whole cast of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” proved they can hold their own in a karaoke competition in the musical episode “Once More, With Feeling” (season 6, episode 7).

While fans would absolutely love to see Sheeran cover the soundtrack of the episode, Gellar actually surprised her fans on Sunday afternoon when she posed for a photo with Sheeran in December.

In the caption, she teased “#jingleball with this guy.”

“Buffy” co-star Emma Caulfield, who played Anya on the show, commented with four fire emojis.

Although he was there to celebrate the holiday season at the iHeartMedia’s annual Jingle Ball concert, fans couldn't help but cross their fingers that a musical collaboration between the pair is in the works!
