Taylor Swift Is Reportedly Engaged To Joe Alwyn But Fans Aren't Buying It

Taylor Swift's "love story" with boyfriend Joe Alwyn is taking a new turn, and it seems fans' "wildest dreams" are finally coming true!

Per recent reports, the iconic singer and her lover have taken their relationship to the next level and are getting ready to walk down the aisle!

According to Life & Style Mag who broke the news, Swift and Alwyn are finally engaged after five years of dating. The exciting news was confirmed by "multiple sources" close to the couple.

Details surrounding the proposal remain quite obscure as Taylor hasn't posted on social media since December 27. Alwyn doesn't post about his personal life on social media, so we have no way of telling.

However, this isn't the first tie the lovebirds have sparked engagement rumors. Just last month, Alwyn and Swift broke the internet when they embarked on a romantic trip to Cornwall.

As The Sun reported, the "Bad Blood" singer and the British actor flew on a private jet from their Nashville home to St Ives for the romantic getaway, making a stop at London.

The couple spent three nights at a rented house and had the best time bonding in a secluded romantic setting. Per sources, the trip was a "special" one for Taylor as she isn't one to travel to distant places unless something serious is at stake. A friend of the superstar said:

Taylor’s a superstar and obviously very wealthy, so she can travel almost anywhere she wants at any time. But to go that far just for a few days clearly meant a lot to them. It feels like things are getting more serious and people think an engagement could be on the cards.

The insider noted that a long journey to a specific location points to something serious. However, neither Swift nor Alwyn confirmed or denied the news.

Although most of Swift and Alwyn's relationship is shrouded in secrecy, fans track the start of their relationship to the 2016 Met Gala. At the time, the "Blank Space" singer was dating Calvin Harris.

However, Swift's song "Dress" hints that the star-studded ceremony was where it all began. "Flashback when you met me / Your buzzcut and my hair bleached, she sang. Indeed Swift rocked a bleached bob to the gala while Alwyn had a clean shave.

Later that year, the lovebirds attended a Kings of Leon concert separately. The singer was in a relationship with Tom Hiddleston, so nothing raised eyebrows. However, in May 2017, rumors began surfacing that the award-winning artist had a British boyfriend.

Alwyn's identity wasn't well-known as he wasn't famous among Swift's numerous American fans despite being an actor, but by June 2017, the paparazzi captured the pair having coffee on a balcony in Nashville.

The relationship largely remained a rumor until December 2017 when the lovebirds packed on a steamy PDA session during Ed Sheeran's set at the iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball.

Come 2018, and the speculations only intensified when Swift and Alwyn shared separate photos of themselves next to the same cactus plant while on vacation. The confirmation arrived in September 2018 when Swift attended the screening of Alwyn's film "The Favourite" and stayed for the after-party.

At the event, Alwyn addressed their relationship for the first time, saying to British Vogue, "I'm aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private, and that has now sunk in for people…but I really prefer to talk about work."

After numerous public outings and several song lyrics that point to Swift and Alwyn's romance, fans were given a closer glimpse at their love story via the singer's documentary, "Taylor Swift: Miss Americana."

In it, she explained that Alwyn's "wonderful, normal, balanced kind of life" drew her in. In August 2020, Swift released her eighth album, "Folklore," and the "Mary Queen of Scots" star was listed as one of the writers for two songs, "Betty" and "Elixir."
