Jennifer Lopez got back together with Ben Affleck in April last year and sent many people into a frenzy. The celebrities dated almost two decades ago and got engaged. However, they separated due to a lot of media influence in their relationship. 

After their failed relationship attempt, the couple married two different people and had children not long after. Affleck married Jennifer Garner and had three children, while Lopez married Marc Anthony. The actress had twins from her marriage with Jacobs.

Lopez recently made an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and talked about how the relationship was treating her. She revealed that the reunion wasn't planned and that the couple was surprised they got another go at love. Keep reading for all the details.

Why Lopez And Affleck Initially Broke Up

In a recent appearance in "The Howard Stern show," Affleck opened up about his previous relationship with Lopez. He talked about why they separated almost 20 years ago and the reason he was initially hesitant to get back together.

He said, "I would say [media attention] was about 50 percent [of what destroyed our relationship.] The idea that people hate you and they hate you together and that being together is poison and ugly and toxic and the thing none of us wants to be part of. And 'who the f** would want them to dinner?' And 'what the f** are they doing together?'"

The couple first met on the set of "Gigli" in 2002. They got engaged a year later but had to cancel their wedding a day before the event. The couple mentioned that the "excessive media attention" surrounding the wedding led to the postponement in their statement. In 2004 they finally called it quits.

Lopez Didn't Expect To Get Back With Affleck 

Lopez recently appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and talked about her rekindled relationship with Affleck. While she was originally on the show to promote her newest movie, "Marry Me," she also delved into some details about her personal life.

When Lopez rekindled her romance with the actor, it surprised everyone, but apparently, it caught the couple off guard even more. The 52-year-old said, "Would you ever have imagined that it comes full circle and ends up like this? I don't think anybody was more surprised than us."

She continued, "I don't think anybody was more surprised than us. No, you never could imagine something like that could happen. It's a beautiful thing." The actress was also on the cover of People's magazine for the Love issue. 

Lopez Said She's 'Very Happy And Lucky' In Her Relationship 

The actress told People Magazine that she was really happy in the relationship and things were different now. Lopez revealed, "Before we kind of put [our relationship] out there and we were naïve, and it got a little trampled. This time, we both were like, 'Wow, we're so happy, and we don't want any of that to come into play again.'"

The "Monster In Law" actress also revealed that they were older and more experienced, so things would be different. Lopez said that with children now in the mix, they would be even more careful in protecting their relationship.

She added, "I just feel very happy and lucky to be in a relationship that's happy and loving, and I want to do everything I can to protect that and keep it safe. It deserves that; it really does. ... We hold it sacred."

'Marry Me' Will Be Released On Valentine's Day Weekend 

Lopez's new movie "Marry Me" will be released in theaters and on Peacock on Valentine's Day weekend. The movie had an earlier release date but was delayed due to the pandemic. In the film, the actress played the role of a superstar called Kat Valdez, who tried to have an active love life in the middle of her fame.

Her character planned to marry her boyfriend, a fellow pop sensation in front of millions of her fans. However, moments before the binding words, Valdez found out he cheated on her. The pop star called off the ceremony on stage and instead married a random person in the crowd holding up a "Marry Me" sign.
