Rapper Bobby Shmurda is lashing out at his record label, claiming they won’t release his new music, and he wants out of his contract.
The musician blasted the company on Instagram, posting a lengthy message to fans trying to explain why he hasn’t put out any new material since being released from prison.
“I got a 70-year-old lady running my label,” Shmurda began.

He continued, “I love her dearly but doesn’t want to let me go al alllllllllll no matter what I do I’ve been signed to them since I was 19 I did six years in jail trying to get off this label before I came home you name one person in the industry a label keeps a sign in jail for six years ?????? Yeah, I made them more millions than they ever gave me!!!”
“Just let me gooo,” he concluded.
It appears Bobby is just wanting to be dropped from his label so he can venture out on his own and make new deals. But, the rapper captioned the message with a deeper explanation on why it’s important for him to be freed.
Bobby Shmurda: They Are Stopping My Music, Album Release!
“This is not a cry for help this is a message and understanding for my fans that they stopping my music and prolonging my career I’ve been holding s–t down doing everything on my own since I been home it’s been a year now I still feel like I’m in prison 😣🦾🦍🔥💯💯💯.”
According to Shmurda, his new album is “ready” and he wants to drop it ASAP. But, it appears something is holding it up on the label side, and he isn’t having it. “The album’s done ready to live pleaseeeeeeeee I need them to let me gooooooooo!!!” he added.
The rapper included a hashtag #FreeShmurda which appears to be trending on social media.
Fans Begging For Record Label To Release Bobby Shmurda’s New Album
As you can imagine, fans are flooding his Instagram with supportive messages and a few are pointing out the obvious in the music industry. “The whole point of them signing you is to make more money off you than they give back to u, there’s no point in them investing in you unless they profit, y’all gotta understand that,” one person wrote.
Currently, the Brooklyn rapper is signed to Epic Records and is being managed by Roc Nation. It appears Bobby is claiming Epic is the one stopping him from releasing his finished album.
As for the 70-year-old lady comment, it appears BS is referencing 69-year-old Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone. It should be noted, Rhone is regarded as one of the most influential female executives in the history of the music industry. She has held senior positions at all three major record companies and was the first woman to be named CEO of a major record label owned by a Fortune 500 company. Plus, she is the first African American woman in history to receive that title.
At this point, it’s unclear why the company is holding up the album — and they haven’t made any official comment on the subject.
One thing is clear, Bobby Shmurda fans are begging for his new music.
