The first season of "Ted Lasso" was released in the mid-2020, and fans couldn't get enough of it. The show follows Ted Lasso, recruited to coach soccer despite his only experience being a college football coach.
The series met critical acclaim and several awards upon its release. In addition to its multiple awards, the show also bagged a Prime Time Emmy Award for the Outstanding Comedy Series in 2021. Season two of the show was released in the summer of 2021, and although it was met with less enthusiasm than the first, it still made an impression.

To the dismay of fans, season three might not be released as early as expected. The last season ended with a cliffhanger, so it's not surprising fans are on the edge of their seats for the next. The show's co-creator revealed that the script was good to go, but the filming aspect was experiencing a "football wrinkle."
'Ted Lasso' Season One And Two Were Major Successes
When the first season was released, "Ted Lasso" was a massive hit on Apple TV+. The season reeled in several awards. The second season premiered in 2021, and although it wasn't as huge as the first, it was still popular.
Both the audience and critics loved "Ted Lasso" season two, and the season ended with a pretty big cliffhanger. The fate of several loved characters is unknown right now. The show's creators are gearing up for season three, reportedly the last part of the series.
Despite the enormity of the cliffhanger, it doesn't seem like fans will get relieved anytime soon. TV Line revealed some unexpected issues in the production, so season three would be delayed.
Brendan Hunt Said There Was A Delay In Filming
The show's co-creator, Brendan Hunt, revealed that while the scripts were ready, there was an unexpected delay in filming. He termed this a "football wrinkle." Besides his role as the co-creator, Hunt also acted as Coach Beard in the series.
Not much else was said about the delay except that the filming date wasn't certain yet. Hunt added that regardless, the filming would begin soon enough. The actor said, "We're in pre-production, and scripts are written. So I would be surprised if our delivery dates were the same."
"That's above my pay grade," he added. "I don't know for sure, but I do have a vague understanding of the limits of this dimension we call time, and I would say it seems pretty unlikely that we would [premiere] as early this year.. it'll happen, and it'll take longer than people want it to, [but] we're just going to try and get it right."
'Ted Lasso' Season Two Ended With A Cliffhanger
Season two of "Ted Lasso" left fans anticipating the following season. In that season, Nick Mohammed's Nate lashed out at Ted then resigned as the assistant coach of Richmond. After his resignation, Nate started as the new head coach of the newly minted West Ham United.
Not much is known about season three, but co-creator and executive producer Bill Lawrence revealed that Sarah Niles and James Lance would appear a lot in the next 12 episodes. Sarah came in the second season as Dr. Sharon Fieldstone, the team's psychologist. On the other hand, James was Trent Crimm, a former sports columnist in the series.
Season Three Will Have 12 Episodes
When the first season of "Ted Lasso" premiered in August 2020, it started off with three episodes off the bat and released ten in total. On the other hand, season two released episodes weekly and wrapped up in 12 episodes. The two seasons finished around early October both years.
Like season two, the third season of the sports series reportedly has 12 episodes. If the first episode is released sometime in October, this season could wrap up in December. However, the producers could just push everything to 2023 if the "foot wrinkle" isn't resolved on time.
The show cast just signed new contracts that included possible pay increases. The show is expected to end in season three, but the contract also included a section for subsequent seasons of the show. This includes spin-offs or another season of the show with a new story.
