In a long message posted to her Instagram page, Lavigne addressed her Europe and U.K. fans who had been looking forward to seeing her perform.

“I have some unfortunate news to share with you all about my UK and European dates,” the message began. “I have to make the difficult decision to postpone this tour until 2023.”

“Due to the on-going issues surrounding the pandemic, there are a series of travel and venue restrictions from country to country that have made the tour not possible to happen,” she continued. “It’s not an easy decision, but it’s one that will help ensure that we are able to play every single date of the tour, put on the best show possible at full capacity, and operate in a safe environment.”

“It really breaks my heart to have to do this but I know it will be worth the wait,” she added.

“The tour is now rescheduled for April-May 2023,” she added at the bottom of the post. “All existing tickets are valid for the new dates. You can find all the updated info at www.avrillavigne.com.”

Many fans expressed disappointment in the cancelation. One fan commented, “The whole year is ruined at this point.”

“While I respect this, I would argue that the UK is one of the most open countries in the world so there really isn’t a need to delay the UK leg of the tour,” another argued.

“So sorry you had to reschedule but it’s for the best,” another added.

“Be safe,” another fan chimed in.

“By the time we actually get there I would have had tickets for 4 years - I’m so p---ed,” another fan wrote, commenting on the frequent rescheduling brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Well it is not like she wanted this to happen,” another fan argued. “Some countries like the Netherlands where I am from have not allowed concerts in a very long time. Her concert would have been during the end of this month in Amsterdam but we are still in lockdown and no concert is allowed. With the pandemic it is impossible to schedule an Europe tour because every country has its own restrictions and rules and everything changes so fast. She is thinking about hers and ours health and we can't blame her for that.”

Other fans in Spain, Portugal, and Brazil are asking her to take advantage of the delay to try and add more tour stops!

As The Blast previously reported, the “Sk8ter Boy” singer has released a new single, “Bite Me,” that is reminding fans of her earlier pop-punk songs.

Lavigne told Kerrang that she’s been “reflecting on past stuff” and was revisiting feelings connected to her past relationships when making her latest single “Bite Me.” Lavigne was married to DeryckWhibley from 2006 to 2010 and “Nickelback” lead singer Chad Kroeger from 2013 to 2015.

“I feel like ‘Bite Me’ is kind of about a guy wanting a second chance but not giving him the time of day because, you know, you did before,” Lavigne explained. “It didn’t work out, and having that self-respect.”

The “Here’s To Never Growing Up” singer is also celebrating being on the music scene for over 20 years now!

“I’m coming up on my 20th anniversary next year for my first album,” she added. “So I’ve been doing this professionally for 20 years. Yeah. It’s crazy. People come up to me and they’re like, ‘Oh my God, I grew up listening to you,’ or, ‘I started music because of you.’ And it’s super-humbling and it’s really cool.”

She added, “And I’m stoked that pop-punk music, it’s coming back around right now and people are falling back in love with it. And it’s almost in a weird way, it feels bigger than ever right now.”

Although fans may not be happy that they have to wait a little longer to see her perform live, at least they still have her latest singles to enjoy until then!
