Although most fans associated the pop star with her lead roles on the Disney television programs “Bizaardvark” and “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” Rodrigo is currently trumping her past works by making waves in the music industry.

Past honorees of the prestigious award include rapper and singer Cardi B, teen talent, Billie Eilish, and a trio of veterans – Taylor Swift, Madonna, and Lady Gaga. Comparing the previous recipients with Rodrigo, the singer comes in as one of the youngest to be honored with the award, which further impresses upon the public the immensity of her talent.
Olivia Rodrigo Is Authentic
The award ceremony is run by the Billboard-Hollywood Reporter Media Group, which owns the Billboard entertainment magazine that provides music charts, news, reviews, and events, related to the music industry.
According to the magazine’s editorial director, Hannah Karp, Rodrigo’s route to stardom is extraordinary. Her talents as a storyteller have helped the singer etch her place on the music scene as an exciting and authentic artist.
Karp further described in a statement how much impact Rodrigo has made within a few years. “Connecting with audiences across generations through emotionally charged songs about heartbreak, jealousy, and growing up, she’s achieved absolutely incredible chart success for a debut artist,” she said.
“We are thrilled to celebrate her unique voice and the enormous impact she’s had on fans around the globe in such a short time.”

Subsequently, she released her debut album “Sour” a few months after. The album earned over 385 million streams, surpassing Spotify’s record for the most-streamed album in a week by a female artist. The album also received seven nominations for this year’s Grammy Awards ceremony.
Billboard Will Honor Other Artistes At The Ceremony
Alongside Rodrigo, some other artists will also receive awards for their contributions to the music industry and their communities.
