Cheslie Kryst's Grandfather Described Her As 'One Of Those Rare People That Had A Heart For People'
Cheslie Kryst's grandfather, Gary Simpkins, told the New York Daily News that Kryst was "a light that shined so brightly."
"To be extinguished so fast is just devastating," he added. Kryst had been born in Michigan but was raised in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She later moved to New York City, where she took her life after jumping from the 60-story building where she lived in Midtown.
"So hard to imagine one minute they’re here and one minute they’re not," he went on. "And you know that the only [way] you’ll ever see them again is when you yourself pass away."
"She was a fantastic person," he continued. "She was kind. She was generous. She felt for other people. She tried to help other people. She was just one of those rare people that had a heart for people."
Many more took to social media in order to express condolences for the late Miss USA.
