Tammy Slaton of "1000-Lb. Sisters," gave fans quite a scare when she was rushed to the hospital on the show's season finale.
It was pretty unfortunate for Tammy, who finally got the courage to seek help after being in a bad place for a long time.
According to PEOPLE, she was known to have had issues with excessive drinking, vaping, and depression, which made her decide to go into rehabilitation.
Her brother Chris and his wife, Brittany, dropped her off a day earlier at the rehab facility in Ohio, but the couple got a call that Tammy had stopped breathing.
Her sister, Amanda, revealed that after hearing that the 35-year-old's lungs had given up and her body was shutting down, funeral plans had to be set in motion.
The doctors put her in a medically induced coma, and they were not confident whether Tammy would survive through the night or even the next hour.
Her family feared for the worst for about four days, but she finally woke up and wanted to go home immediately on the last day.
Tammy was given a tracheostomy whereby the doctors created a hole in her throat to put in a breathing tube. The tube was for the provision of emergency breathing aid at any time.
She remained in the doctors' care for three more weeks and headed back to rehab. Amanda and her other sister, Amy, expressed relief for her sister's health and were happy she still had her life.
Tammy Slaton Gets Candid About Her Major Depression And Mental Health
During the "1000-Lb. Sisters" show, Tammy's bariatric surgeon, Dr. Eric Smith, talked with the reality star regarding her mental health issues.
The Blast shared that Dr. Smith asked her if her mental health issues and depression worsened when she was by herself or with people.
Tammy replied that she felt worse when she was alone; that was why she needed to clear her mind and work on herself. The TLC star wanted a break without thinking about diets or relationships.
Being overweight created a lot of issues for Tammy, and she confessed to her doctor that she takes eight bottles of liquor a week.
Drinking was her way of blowing off steam, and she seemed to be drinking herself to death. Rather than actually working on herself, she seemed to use drinking as an excuse not to do that.
Her doctor expressed worry and wanted her to take her mental health seriously, which she was doing the wrong way.

On the other hand, the older one made excuses for herself instead of striving to lose weight. Although Tammy shed a few pounds, she got the weight back and even added extra pounds.
