Actress Whoopi Goldberg has really crossed the line this time!

In the latest episode of "The View," Goldberg and her co-hosts were talking about the controversy surrounding a Tennessee school distracting that had decided to ban Art Spiegelman's Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel "Maus" in schools.

During the discussion, Goldberg said that the Holocaust "was not about race" which immediately prompted a harsh response from the Anti-Defamation League, the Auschwitz Memorial, the Holocaust Museum, and many others.

"If you’re going to do this, then let’s be truthful about it," Goldberg said during the episode. "Because the Holocaust isn’t about race. No, it’s not about race."

Co-host Joy Behar asked Goldberg, "Then what was it about?"

Whoopi Goldberg Makes Insensitive Remarks, The Internet Fires Back

Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted, "No @WhoopiGoldberg, the #Holocaust was about the Nazi’s systematic annihilation of the Jewish people – who they deemed to be an inferior race. They dehumanized them and used this racist propaganda to justify slaughtering 6 million Jews. Holocaust distortion is dangerous. #ENOUGH"

Whoopi Goldberg Quickly Backtracks, Issues An Apology Online: 'I Stand Corrected'

After her offensive remark caused her to start trending online, Whoopi quickly drafted an apology to her Twitter page.

"On today's show, I said the Holocaust 'is not about race, but about man's inhumanity to man,'" she began. "I should've said it is about both."

"As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, 'The Holocaust was about the Nazi's systematic annihilation of the Jewish people - who they deemed to be an inferior race.' I stand corrected."

"The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never waiver," she continued. "I'm sorry for the hurt I have caused."

"Written with my sincerest apologies, Whoopi Goldberg," she concluded.

Do Her Fans Accept Her Apology? Or Is It Too Little, Too Late?

Fans had mixed reactions to what Whoopi had said. Many didn't believe that her apology was enough, and some even called on her to be fired.

StopAntiSemitism.Org said that her Twitter apology was definitely not enough.

"No you don’t get any easy out on Twitter," they tweeted. "Millions of viewers witnessed your Holocaust revisionism today. Please apologize and correct this horrific distortion tomorrow ON AIR."

"In addition bring actual Holocaust survivors to speak in order to make this a truly teachable moment," they added.

"This farce of an apology ignores some of the insane things you said during the segment," another user added. "Regardless, it’s not like you had a slip up in a heated moment. You are 66 years old and don’t have the basic grasp of the Holocaust (which ended a mere decade before you were born)."

"ABC fired Rosanne Barr over a tweet. Do you think ABC should fire you over your rhetoric?" another asked.

"Love you ladies, and I firmly disagree with the firing of Rosanne and I would firmly disagree with Whoopie being fired," another replied. "She apologized and she seemed sincere. She admitted she was wrong. When I say I am against cancel culture, I meant that for even those I don't agree with."
