Duff is currently married to Matthew Bair, professionally known as Matthew Koma. Having several experiences in dating, Duff believes that there is no such thing as soulmates. Here’s why she held on to her belief.
Duff’s Marriage With Koma Is Not Her First
Duff’s relationship with Aaron Carter was confirmed in 2001. The actor also guest-starred alongside Duff in an episode of Lizzie McGuire. Their relationship garnered so much attention because they were both popular in the industry.
There were also rumors of a love triangle between the duo and Lindsay Lohan. The relationship experienced some temporary pitfalls for three years before they finally called it off. In July 2004, she started dating Madden.
At the time, she was sixteen years old, and Madden was twenty-five. While their relationship lasted, they worked together on one of Duff’s albums. In 2007, she began dating Mike Comrie, a Canadian NHL player.
They announced their engagement after three years of dating, married a few months later, and had a son together two years after getting married. Duff filed for divorce from Comrie after five years of marriage.
After her split with Comrie, she dated a man before meeting Koma. In January, she began dating Koma, although she paused her relationship with him to date Ely Sandvik in summer 2017.
Duff Does Not Believe In Soulmates
Although Duff enjoys her relationship with Koma, the “Cadet Kelly” star does not believe that she and Koma are soulmates. In an interview with The New York Times, she was asked if she believed in the idea, and she responded, “Not really.”
She further explained that her opinion might crush her lover because he is very tender and thoughtful. She doesn’t think she could be glued to anybody else besides him. She confessed her love for the American record producer.

Duff does not believe in soulmates because she thinks that there are many other people in the world that we are compatible with. She added that we would also love them, but the scale is not stable; it keeps moving up and down.
Duff’s Character In ‘How I Met Your Father’
“How I Met Your Father” is a reboot of the popular sitcom titled “How I Met Your Mother.” It is an American film created and co-produced by Craig Thomas and Carter Boys. It starred Josh Radnor, Jason Segel, and many others.
In the reboot, Duff, who is the main protagonist, plays the role of a hopeless romantic, although she is not like that in real life. Just like Ted Mosby in “HIMYM,” Sophie, Duff’s character, is searching endlessly for her true love.
She is searching far and wide for a man who will become the father of her son. So far, she has been on eighty dates with men she met on the internet, and none of the matches is yielding a positive result.
Sophie’s Determination in ‘HIMYF’
All her dates fell through due to one reason or the other, but despite the countless setbacks, the character is still very determined to meet that special person who would make her forget her past experiences and put a smile on her face.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Duff talked briefly about the character and the role. She said it is quite hard to keep trying and putting on a smile even if things are not going as planned. She said the character is highly-spirited.
She had three children to cater for and a job to keep. On most days, she needed to be in bed by 9 pm and also get up early the following day. Duff admires the character, although that’s not how she is in real life.
