Adele’s particular requests for her Las Vegas residency may have been the cause for the massive cancellation.

A new report from The Sun is saying that it was the singer’s refusal to perform in a pool that led to the implosion of her residency.

Last week, the British singer broke the news to her fans on social media that her show just wasn’t coming together due to a number of crew workers contracting COVID-19.

However, that appears to have just been a cover-up to save face.

The Sun reports that Adele canceled her residency after a FURIOUS rant over the swimming pool performance.

She was set to stand in the middle of a pool while belting out one of her famous tunes, but compared the final design to an “old pond” and refused.

According to a US source for the outlet, there was a plan in place where Adele would be hoisted up in a pool during her show, which would in turn create the illusion she was floating on top of water.

“When she saw the finished design, she refused to take part,” the source continued. “Adele described the pool as a ‘baggy old pond’ and refused, point blank, to stand in the middle of it.”

As previously mentioned, the intention behind the stunt was to fill it with water while the songstress was in the middle of it. She would then be lifted up on a crane-type mechanism, which would create the illusion of her floating on water.

Last week, The Blast reported on the shocking cancellation.

The singer issued a social media video explaining just 24-hours before she was set to perform her first show that she would be cancelling it all together.

The singer uploaded a 1-minute-39-second video where she looked sober and distraught. Wearing a purple and brown top, with her blonde hair let loose, Adele looked like she had been crying.

She started her statement, saying, “Hi all! Listen I’m so sorry but my show ain’t ready. We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID.”

The British singer revealed that half of her team was down with COVID, making it impossible to finish the show successfully. “I can’t give you what I have right now. And I’m gutted.”

Adele apologized for the announcement coming last minute and was tearful as she noted she and her team had been up for about 30 hours trying to figure out, but they’ve run out of time.

The tearful Grammy-winner broke down as she told fans, “I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed, and I’m so sorry to anyone that has traveled again. I’m really really sorry.”

However, Adele assured fans that all hope wasn’t lost. She promised that the team was on the issue and had plans to reschedule all dates. “I’m gonna finish my shadow and I’m gonna get it to where it’s supposed to be,” she declared.

Adele apologized to her fans for the inconvenience before ending the clip.

In addition to this video, Adele also personally FaceTimed with fans who were patiently waiting to see her perform in Vegas.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Adele left a note for fans who had made the trip written on a mirror in lipstick in a merchandise store in Caesars Palace.

“Hi guys! I’m so upset to not be with you tonight,” the message read. “But I know some of you are here already so please hang out and look at the outfits, take pics of anything you want. Of yourselves and with each other!”

“There’s people in the room I worked with on the store and the merch,” the message continued. “There’s members of my management in here too to show you around. And any of you in here who were due to come to the shows this weekend can have a gift on me! I’m so sorry again.”

In addition to free merch and free meet-and-greets whenever the tour gets rescheduled, Adele had offered her fans free drinks, and then quickly rescinded the offer when she realized that many of her fans were underage!

Still, Adele found another way to make it up to her forgiving fans. Adele also FaceTimed with numerous fans who had traveled to Las Vegas to see her perform.

According to Variety, someone from Adele’s management team went around handing out phones to fans so that they could FaceTime with the singer one-on-one.

Instagram user Dominic Crisonino shared a three-minute video of his FaceTime encounter with Adele on his Instagram page. “Wow she’s so gracious and caring!!!” one fan commented on the video. “What a sweet chat.”

Another Instagram user named @Adriansm99 posted a video to his Instagram Story, saying that he forgave Adele for postponing her Las Vegas Residency. “I really don’t mind coming back from Mexico,” he told her.

“I’m thankful for you being so graceful to me,” Adele responded. “I really appreciate that.”

“That’s my manager right next to you,” Adele added. “When you come back, whenever that is, we’ll do a meet-and-greet for free.”
