Dwayne Johnson & Chris Evans Team Up To Take On Christmas!

Actor Dwayne Johnson is pretty excited that a new cast member has just joined the cast of his new Christmas movie!

“Captain America” star Chris Evans will be joining “Black Adam” in a new Christmas movie called “Red One.”

Although the plot is still under wraps, the film is described as a “globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.”

The original story was created by Hiram Garcia, who is the President of Production of Johnson’s production company, Seven Bucks Productions. Amazon Studios won the right to release the film after an aggressive bidding war last year.

The “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” reboot director, Jake Kasdan, will be directing this film as well. Kasdan directed Johnson in the reboot, which also included “School of Rock” actor Jack Black, “Doctor Who” star Karen Gillan, and “Central Intelligence” star Kevin Hart, which also included Johnson.

The screenplay was created by Chris Morgan, who also worked with Johnson in the “Fast & Furious” franchise. Morgan worked on films such as “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw,” “The Fate of the Furious,” “Furious 7,” and “Fast & Furious 6,” and “Fast Five.”

Johnson and Evans both had appearances in the 2021 comedy “Free Guy,” directed by Shawn Levy for Disney, but this will be the first film in which both accomplished actors will star together.

Although fans are looking forward to watching the film during the Christmas season, the film’s release date has been pushed back until 2023, so fans might be waiting a while to watch the holiday special!

Johnson took a screencap of a Digital Spy article announcing the news, with the headline: “Marvel’s Chris Evans joins DC’s Dwayne Johnson in Christmas movie.”

In the caption, Johnson wrote: “When CAPTAIN AMERICA ?? teams up with BLACK ADAM to make a CHRISTMAS MOVIE.”

“Directed by the man who directed the JUMANJI MOVIES * jake Kasdan,” he added.

“Written by the man who wrote the FAST & FURIOUS MOVIES * chris morgan,” he continued.

“Conceived and produced by the man who produced JUNGLE CRUISE & RED NOTICE MOVIES * @hhgarcia41,” he went on.

Johnson described the upcoming flick as “Think MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET meets HOBBS & SHAW with a little bit of ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE sprinkled on top.”

“I can’t begin to tell you how much FUN (and FILTHY) our 5 way text chain has already become,” he joked. “I think we’re gonna make a great holiday movie for you and your families around the world to enjoy!”

He concluded the post with his usual “LFG” before including the hashtags, #Evans, #Johnson, #RedOne, and AMAZON STUDIOS in all-caps.

Johnson is jumping to “Red One” after “Red Notice,” which has become the number one most-watched film in Netflix history!

The comedy crime caper also stars “Deadpool” Ryan Reynolds and “Wonder Woman” Gal Gadot. The film was a hit with fans, who gave it a 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Unfortunately, it failed to impress critics, who gave the film a Tomatometer score of only 37%.

Kristy Puchko of Mashable wrote, “There's turn off your brain and enjoy movies, and then there's this.”

David Fear of Rolling Stone wrote, “There's something incredibly deflating about all of this, from the waste of precious screen-talent resources to the sense that you're watching the last gasp of an age-old formula. It is like staring at a bright, shiny epitaph for two hours.”

Robert Levin of Newsday wrote, “If the director and actors don't seem engaged in trying to make a movie that does anything but hit a bunch of buddy comedy marks, there's no reason for an audience to bother.”

Richard Lawson of Vanity Fair wrote, “Red Notice is limp and dull, and does more to showcase the shortcomings of each of its marquee idols than it does to highlight their bankable charisma.”

James Berardinelli of ReelViews wrote, “You can have The Rock, Wonder Woman, and Deadpool, but it doesn't mean much if they don't have clever things to say and meaningful things to do.”

Hopefully, “Red One” will score a much warmer reception!
