Kevin Hart Drops Over $200,000 On Purchase Of A 'Bored Ape' NFT

Comedian Kevin Hartjust joined a host of other celebrities, buying one of the most expensive digital pieces of art  -- a bored ape NFT. 

According to reports, Hart decided to jump into the NFT world with the purchase of one of the most expensive and successful NFT's on the market a Bored Ape. The comedian bought [Bored Ape #9258] for the price of 79.5 ETH.

If you do the math, Hart shelled out $200,401 for the art -- which features an ape wearing a colorful hat with a pinwheel on top. It's a fairly simple-looking piece of art, but remember it's the ownership of the original concept and print that has the market on fire.

As we reported, Hart is not the only celebrity who dropped huge cash to join the massive emerging market. Eminem is the latest celebrity to dip his toe in the NFT market, buying a Bored Ape that looks a little like the rapper, wearing his signature small brimmed hat. The 'Slim Shady' rapper dropped even more cash on his ape, spending a reported $462,000 on a non-fungible token.

It appears Eminem is jumping big into the market, with his company Shady Holdings owning 22 NFTs as of this month, including eight purchased at the start of the year. Post Malonemade a huge splash in the market, recently buying two Bored Apes for over $700,000.

The 'Sunflower' singer-songwriter purchased #961 and #9039 for a total of $734,401. "My friends are gonna love this, they’re going to freak out. They love the cryptos, NFTs," Post said after making the large purchase. Interestingly, he also bought an ape that is wearing a cowboy hat, something he is known to do every now and then.

Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Fallon, Steph Curry, and Lil Baby are among other big stars who are proud owners of Bored Ape NFTs. It should be noted, besides its actual value, the exclusive club allows owners access to the special community which includes events and opportunities. For instance, it's possible there could be parties connected to this year's Super Bowl specifically for Ape owners only.

The NFT world is getting plenty of star power in the past few months, with the announcement of 'Autograph' -- an NFT agency co-founded by NFL star Tom Brady. The startup closed on a recent round of funding, pulling in $170 million from crypto investors. The company's board includes big names like 'The Weeknd' and Apple's Eddy Cue.

The company is reportedly a go-between for celebrity athletes and entertainers looking to get into the NFT world. It can be a scary place, considering Kim Kardashian and Floyd Mayweather were named in a lawsuit brought by disgruntled investors of a token they endorsed.

In the end, Kevin Hart is riding the wave of NFT's, getting into one of the most exclusive clubs on the planet -- for a price!
