Kanye ‘Ye’ West is no amateur when it comes to making BIG money, and now the rapper is asking paparazzi to pay it forward when they snap photos of him.
During a Saturday run-in with a pap, Ye explained to the photographer that he wants a percentage of the proceeds made off of his image.
Ye explained he wants celebrities to take more control of their likeness and one fool proof way to do that is to get a cut of the sales made on each image.
While leaving the airport in Miami, FL. Yeezy said, “Right now y’all get to shoot us without having to pay. I’mma change that.”

He continued, “I’m not saying it in a negative way. It’s just like, right now, it’s just really one-sided. You guys can follow us, you guys can stand outside a hotel at any given time—you don’t give us any percentage of what you’re making off of us, off of our kids, and I’m gonna change that.”
Clearly 2022 is turning out to be a year of change for the rap star.
Ye said that he owns his image and therefore is entitled to a portion of any money the image makes.
Kanye Confronts Paparazzi About Getting A Percentage
“We all gotta make money together … It can’t be a one-sided thing,” he said. “Look, if I’m just with my kids, I say I don’t want you to shoot me, then that’s just something y’all gotta respect … We can get that money together, but we gotta have a conversation.”

According to Ye, the current paparazzi laws allow them to snap photos of celebrities anywhere in the world, as long as it is in a public setting. This is something else Ye is working to change.
“I’m gonna make sure we get our rights. We’re real people, also,” he said.
This confrontation comes in the wake of his altercation with an autograph-seeker.
The Blast previously reported on the incident in which Ye allegedly punched the man multiple times.
Earlier this month, Ye got into a scuffle in downtown Los Angeles after a wild night out.
The rapper allegedly punched the person in the face, after they asked him for an autograph.
According to reports, Kanye was partying with his new girlfriend Julia Fox and left the Hollywood nightclub for a recording studio in downtown L.A.
At around 3 am, police were called to the scene of an assault where the rapper allegedly knocked out a fan who had approached him. One report claims the fan walked up to Kanye — who was sitting in his car — and the rapper jumped out and punched him.
The victim of Ye’s wrath is named Justin Poplawski.
During an interview with Hollywood Unlocked, Ye explained that the person he punched wasn’t a fan, he was a paparazzi trying to make money off of his image.
Kanye Addresses Assaulting A Paparazzi
He also addressed the altercation during his discussion with paps over the weekend.
“I respect your job. My dad was a photographer at a newspaper … I love paparazzi,” he said. “But as Americans, we gotta respect each other. We gotta bring the pride back to this country.”
Recently, paps have been making a TON of money off of Ye’s image because he’s been gallivanting around the world with Fox.
Over the weekend, Ye and Julia attended the Kenzo Fall/Winter 2022/2023 fashion show at Paris Fashion Week in Paris, France.
The two made sure to turn heads in their double-denim outfits.
Julia wore a cropped jean jacket with Madonna-inspired cone breasts and massive gold, chunky earrings.
Her eye makeup could best be compared to Natalie Portman’s in “Black Swan.”
Ye went for a puffy jean jacket, black gloves, sunglasses and his statement Yeezy boots.
Of course, their outfits had everyone on Twitter talking about how their outfits resembled Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s 2001 American Music Awards double-denim attire.
“Move aside Britney and Justin, there’s a new denim duo in town,” one person tweeted.
“Britney and Justin did it better,” someone tweeted while another person noted, “Britney and Justin walked so Ye and Julia could run.”
Their double-denim matching moment comes after Julia stated she was not with Ye for clout, money or fame.
During a recent episode of her podcast, “Forbidden Fruits,” Julia said, "People are like 'Oh, you're only in it for the fame, you're in it for the clout, you're in it for the money.' Honey, I've dated billionaires my entire adult life, let's keep it real."
"It's funny cause I'm getting all of this attention, but I really couldn't care," Julia said.
Her biggest purpose is to continue creating art and “putting things into the world.”
"Watch my movie, read my book. That is more thrilling to me now than eyes on me. I couldn't care less."
