Adele was absolutely heartbroken when she had to cancel her Las Vegas Residency due to COVID-19 concerns. Many fans took the news especially hard because Adele announced the cancelation only one day before she was set to perform. Many fans had already flown into Las Vegas for the show or had already bought hotel and plane tickets to celebrate Adele’s return to the stage before she made the announcement.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Adele left a note for fans who had made the trip written on a mirror in lipstick in a merchandise store in Caesars Palace.

“Hi guys! I'm so upset to not be with you tonight,” the message read. “But I know some of you are here already so please hang out and look at the outfits, take pics of anything you want. Of yourselves and with each other!”

“There's people in the room I worked with on the store and the merch,” the message continued. “There's members of my management in here too to show you around. And any of you in here who were due to come to the shows this weekend can have a gift on me! I'm so sorry again.”

Adele Sheds Tears In Emotional Instagram Video Announcing The News

On Thursday night, Adele posted a video to Instagram and Twitter to share the heartbreaking news.

“Hi, listen I'm so sorry but my show ain't ready,” she explained. “We tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we've been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID. Half my crew, half my team are down with COVID… they still are.”

“It's been impossible to finish the show,” she continued. “And I can't give you what I have right now. I'm tired. I'm tired. I'm sorry it's so last minute, we've been awake for over 30 hours now trying to figure it out, and we've run out of time.”

“I'm so upset, and I'm really embarrassed and so sorry to everyone that's traveled again,” she added. “I'm really, really sorry, I'm really sorry. We're on it, we're gonna reschedule all of the dates, we're on it right now, and I'm gonna finish my show and I'm gonna get it to where it's supposed to be.”

“I'm so sorry it's been impossible, we've been up against so much, and it just ain't ready,” she concluded. “I'm really sorry.”

Adele FaceTimes With Fans In Apology, Offers Free Meet-And-Greets

In addition to free merch and free meet-and-greets whenever the tour gets rescheduled, Adele had offered her fans free drinks, and then quickly rescinded the offer when she realized that many of her fans were underage!

Still, Adele found another way to make it up to her forgiving fans. Adele also FaceTimed with numerous fans who had traveled to Las Vegas to see her perform. According to Variety, someone from Adele’s management team went around handing out phones to fans so that they could FaceTime with the singer one-on-one.

Instagram user Dominic Crisonino shared a three-minute video of his FaceTime encounter with Adele on his Instagram page. "Wow she's so gracious and caring!!!" one fan commented on the video. "What a sweet chat."

Another Instagram user named @Adriansm99 posted a video to his Instagram Story, saying that he forgave Adele for postponing her Las Vegas Residency. “I really don’t mind coming back from Mexico,” he told her.

“I’m thankful for you being so graceful to me,” Adele responded. “I really appreciate that.”

“That’s my manager right next to you,” Adele added. “When you come back, whenever that is, we’ll do a meet-and-greet for free.”

Another group of fans shouted “It’s okay!” through the phone, where Adele could be seen crying on the other end.

Although Adele’s social media channels have been quiet throughout the weekend, she did post a statement on Twitter late Friday night.

“I have the best fans in the world!” she tweeted. “Your graciousness and love tonight is overwhelming! Thank you.”
