Actor Will Forte finally got his chance in the spotlight!
Despite being a longtime cast member of “Saturday Night Live,” he finally got his first opportunity to host and was relishing his time in the spotlight.
Or, at least, he was trying to. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out so well for the “MacGruber” actor!

“The Last Man on Earth” actor was welcomed to the stage with a generous amount of applause.
“Thank you very much,” he began. “I am so excited to be here tonight. This is my first time hosting SNL.”
“I was in the cast twelve years ago with Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, and Fred Armisen, so it was really fun to see Kristen host, then Bill, you know, then Andy, then Fred, then Kristen again, then Bill again, then Jason,” Forte said, growing more frustrated the names rolled on. “Seth Meyers, I mean he’s one of my best buds, but, you know, come on. He wasn’t really a sketch guy, he was just on ‘Weekend Updates’ – does that even count as being on the show? - but he hosted, right?”
“John Mulaney was a writer when I was in the cast,” he continued. “And then he hosted four times. Four times.”
“But they, that’s okay, I’m not bitter about it,” Forte said as he began to laugh. “I’m not. Saved the best for last, right? Saved the best for way last. But, uh, look, after twelve long years, tonight is finally my turn.”
“My time to shine. Tonight is all about me,” he continued. After he starts getting thunderous applause from the audience, he thinks it’s about him… until he realizes that Kristen Wiig has appeared on stage behind him.
“Hi Will, I am so excited you’re hosting,” she said.
“Ah. Not a good time,” he responded. “Well, it’s good to see you. Buh-bye.”
“Oh, so… so I should go?” Wiig asked.
“Yeah, I think so,” Forte replied.
“I flew in for this,” Wiig tells him.
“Oh, great,” Forte answers. “So you know where the airport is.”
“All right, well back to North Korea,” Wiig joked. “It was really hard to get out.”
After she leaves, Forte turns back to address the audience. “So I don’t love that she got more applause than I did,” he says. “You know, I came out when she was hosting, and I did something in her monologue, but I was polite enough to get less applause than her.”

“But look, my point is, maybe there universe had a reason for making me wait to host,” he continued. “Maybe it wanted me to wait until ‘MacGruber’ the series was streaming on Peacock. And, speaking of MacGruber, I would like to officially announce that ‘MacGruber’ has been picked up for a season two.”
“I would like to announce that,” he quickly added. “But it hasn’t been picked up yet, so I can’t. You know, we’re waiting to hear.”
“And if I could just take a serious moment,” he went on, “I’d like to say how much this show has meant to me. I started my career here and they’ve always supported me…”
Suddenly, the band begins to play.
“Wait a second, are they playing me off in my own monologue?” Forte asks the audience. “I waited twelve freaking years for this. I mean, have you seen some of the idiots they’ve had host the show since then? Kristen, Bill, Andy, Fred.”
“All right, fine, I’ll take one question,” Forte said, pointing to someone in the audience. “You sir.”
It just happens to be “Saturday Night Live” creator and producer Lorne Michaels, standing next to actor Willem Dafoe.
“I’m so sorry, Will,” Michaels said. “There’s been a mistake.”
“Willem Dafoe?” Forte asked. “You’re hosting next week!”
“I’m pretty sure it’s this week,” Dafoe says.
“You think I’d book someone named Will, then someone named Willem?” Lorne asks.
“Oh my God, this is not happening,” Forte says. “Wait, you texted me to come host, Lorne.”
“I texted Willem, and you know, autocorrect,” Lorne replies.
“All right, fine, then let’s have the fans decide once and for all,” Forte insists. He pulls up a list that shows Willem Dafoe and Kristen Wiig tying at 40%. Måneskin got 10% and Forte is tied at 5% with “Abandon Show, Bring Back Tom Hanks.”
“Oh my God, five percent?” Forte demands. “Oh, you people do love me.”
