Chloe Bailey Talks Insecurities Of The Spotlight And Comparison With Her Sister

Chloe Bailey is tired of haters, especially those comparing her to Halle Bailey!

The 23-year-old singer, best known as the other half of the sister group Chloe x Halle, got candid about her feelings during an interview for In The Know Magazine.

The "Have Mercy" songstress graced the digital cover of January's issue with her stunning body — a subject she also discussed with the magazine's representative Elaine Welteroth.

Last year, Chloe took the world by storm with her solo debut and sexy new image, which gave the 23-year-old more admirers as well as criticism over her undeniable allure.

From her viral TikTok #BussItChallenge to her spectacular Nina Simone cover during ABC's Juneteenth special, the caramel-glazed goddess kept making headlines.

However, it wasn't easy for the "Grown-ish" star to undergo this transformational period as a solo act as she experienced "growing pains." In her words:

"How I would characterize my growing pains is it’s very hard for me to speak up for myself. I think being with my sister, it’s easier to speak up."

Although it wasn't easy, the "Do It" artist has learned that one must love themselves enough to never stay quiet despite what other people may say.

According to the Atlanta native, she has learned the importance of appreciating herself and declared anyone body-shaming her gorgeous self as background noises.

On the bright side, haters were great inspirational sources for the up-and-coming solo musician as she turned the negativity into great music. The "ROYL" singer said:

"If no one ever said anything negative about me, I would have never made “Have Mercy.” I would have never made half the records that are going to be on my album."

The brown-skinned beauty planned on riding the self-love train for a long time as she implored other women to embrace their beautiful bodies and ignore the trolls.

As for those comparing the R&B sisters, Chloe has zero love for the tasteless act, which she described  as "shallow" and "disturbing." She told Welteroth:

"It was very off-putting to know how people would try to put two young Black sisters who love their craft so much and love each other so much, how they try to pit them against each other just because they’re different in some ways."

The older sister's pain was understandable given how much the dynamic duo loved themselves and their craft. The pair rose to fame from showcasing their talents on YouTube. 

However, their big break occurred after Beyonce discovered one of their clips and couldn't help but take the sisters under her wing, thereby creating the phenomenal Chloe x Halle act.

Last October, The Blast reported that Chloe had addressed the negativity surrounding her sexy image during an appearance on "The Real" talk show.

The 23-year-old revealed that as long as she remained "authentic," the opinions of others about her style, body, or actions didn't matter because she was being herself. 

The "Forgive Me" artist stated she had accepted the fact that not everyone would like her, but those who cared for the singer were enough for her.

The up-and-coming solo artist garnered a lot of attention with her debut single, "Have Mercy," which was highly appreciated by fans, especially for the accompanying music video.

Chloe also had the opportunity to perform the hit track at 2021's VMAs, where the songstress dominated the stage with captivating choreography.

Back in August, The Blast shared that Chloe got vulnerable on YouTube during an appearance on the rapper Saweetie's Vblog series, "ICY University."

The Atlanta native confessed that she wasn't in a good place mentally and emotionally following the backlash she received over her sex appeal. 

The "Ungodly Hour" singer revealed that the negative comments made her believe she needed to change parts of herself. However, the curvy beauty no longer entertains such depressing thoughts.

The 23-year-old stated she was learning to be more confident in her skin by performing alluring renditions of famous songs such as her mentor, Queen Bey's "1+1" and Jazmine Sullivan's "Pick Up Your Feelings."
