Cardi B offered to pay the funeral costs for all victims of the Bronx apartment fire, and the New York Mayor is thanking the rapper for the "critical" financial relief.

According to multiple reports, the 'Bodak Yellow' rapper is stepping up to cover the funeral and burial costs of all 17 victims of the tragic apartment fire. Cardi B grew up in the same area and wants to help the families suffering from the tragedy.

"I cannot begin to imagine the pain and anguish that the families of the victims are experiencing, but I hope that not having to worry about the costs associated with burying their loved ones will help as they move forward and heal," Cardi said.

She continued, "I'm extremely proud to be from the Bronx and I have lots of family and friends who live and work there still, So, when I heard about the fire and all of the victims, I knew I needed to do something to help."

On January 9, 2022, a raging fire ripped through a 120-unit tower in the apartment complex and killed 17 people. Tragically, many were taken to the hospital and succumbed to their injuries -- including victims as young as 2 years old. Authorities claim the fire was started after a broken space heater malfunctioned, and open doors allowed the smoke to fill the entire building. An investigation is underway to determine why those doors were left open, and if any responsibility is held by the owners of the complex.
