Turns out Elmo still has major beef with Rocco!

Almost two weeks ago, a 2004 clip of “Sesame Street” went viral. In the clip, taken from the episode “Elmo Feels He’s Treated Unfairly By Rocco,” Elmo and his friend Zoe are eating cookies together. When Elmo tries to take the last oatmeal raisin cookie, Zoe tells him that it’s reserved for her pet rock, Rocco.

That’s when Elmo sees red.

“How? How is Rocco going to eat that cookie?” Elmo demands. “Tell Elmo. Rocco doesn’t even have a mouth. Rocco is just a rock. Rocco is not alive.”

Elmo Responds To The Feud On Twitter

On January 5, Elmo took to Twitter to address the most recent “Sesame Street” drama to unfold in the public eye.

Elmo tweeted, “Don’t worry everybody! Elmo and Zoe practiced sharing and are still best buds forever! Elmo loves you Zoe! Ha ha ha!”

However, he added, “Elmo doesn’t want to talk about Rocco.”

Although many fans applauded Elmo for being the bigger man – er, muppet – the drama did not end there.

Less than a half-hour after his first tweet, Elmo followed it up with, “Has anybody ever seen a rock eat a cookie? Elmo is just curious.”

Although fans were quick to point out that, yes, they have seen a rock, more specifically Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson eat plenty of cookies, many fans applauded Elmo for standing his ground.

One fan replied to the tweet, saying, “The important lesson here, is not that anyone should have imagination, it’s that there are people out there who are going to gaslight us until we all fall into their pit. This is why it’s important for Elmo to hold his ground. Not to believe what you know is false.”

It seems that all was quiet on Sesame Street… until “Saturday Night Live” brought Elmo in to settle his feud with Rocco once and for all.

Elmo Appears On ‘Saturday Night Live’ In Dramatic Confrontation

Elmo, who was played by Chloe Fineman on the “Weekend Update” of “Saturday Night Live,” admitted that he might have overreacted to the feud when questioned by Michael Che.

“OK, Elmo admit Elmo overreacted,” he said. “And Elmo has already apologized in a long Instagram post. Elmo ready to move on.” The photo of the “Instagram post” was a parody of Elmo photoshopped in for Patton Oswalt after he apologized for performing with controversial comedian Dave Chappelle at the beginning of the year.

Che told Elmo “that’s good to hear” because they were planning on bringing on a surprise guest. He then welcomed Rocco to the stage, who was pushed onto the set in a little chair.

“What? Why does Rocco get a chair?” Elmo ranted. “Rocco doesn't need a chair. Rocco doesn't even have legs! Rocco's a rock! What is Rocco doing here?”

Che was quick to explain, “Well, he was in the building getting a COVID test.”

“How? How is Rocco getting a COVID test?” he demanded. “Tell Elmo! Rocco doesn’t even have a nose! Rocco doesn’t even have a respiratory system!”

Che then explains that “SNL” requires all visitors to get tested. When Elmo asked why Rocco was visiting “SNL,” Che explained that he’s going to be hosting next month. And perform the show’s musical guest as well.

“Rocco is host and musical guest? How?" Fineman's Elmo shouted. "Don't gaslight Elmo! Elmo feel like Elmo going insane here.”

“Hey, I really like this dude,” Che says of Rocco. “Here, man. Have a cookie.”

“Can Elmo have a cookie?” Elmo asks.

“I’m sorry,” Che replies. “But that was my last one.”

“The last cookie? The last cookie? It's happening again!” Elmo yells. The border of the screen erupts in flames in a parody of the viral Elmo meme where he’s screaming with fire in the background.

At this point, Elmo has clearly had enough of Rocco’s antis. “That’s it. Paper cover rock!” Elmo shouts. “Prepare to die, Rocco!”

However, Elmo draws back when Che points out that his family is in the audience… pointing to a rock and a few smaller pebbles sitting in a chair in the front row.

Fans Can’t Wait To See Rocco Host Next Month!

“SNL” better deliver, because plenty of fans now want to see Rocco host his first episode of the show!

“If I don’t see Rocco actually hosting next month, imma be mad like Elmo,” one fan wrote.

“Rocco knows what he’s doing - can’t wait to see him host,” another fan wrote.

“Rocko is freaking hysterical,” another fan commented. “Such comedic timing.”

Another wrote, “Rocco as the musical guest, brilliant.”

“Say what you want about Rocco, but his recent album was sublime,” wrote another. “I'm glad he is the musical guest next month.”

However, not everyone was a big fan of Rocco.

“Rocco is such a smarta--,” another wrote. “He was smirking through that whole interview. So were his husband and kids.”
